Flows vs. GTAs

How do they compare, aside form appearance? I had the Flows and liked them... I'm wondering whether the GTAs are louder. From the sound clips the GTAs sound like they have a higher pitch . I've noticed that they are gaining popularity.

Had them both. The Flows have more bass burble and drone. I could set car alarms off in my parking garage at work with them. The GTA's are quieter esp inside the car, very little burble and don't drone. GTA's won't set off car alarms either. My 11 yr old liked the Flows, they have that old school muscle car sound.

I can second NJ's post about the GTAs being relatively quiet, but they're much deeper than stock, and when you go 1/2 throttle or WOT they ROAR...I just put mine on this weekend and I love the sound.

I think my gas mileage average has already dropped 1MPG because I'm getting on the gas so often to hear the exhaust!

Are you referring to Flowmaster AT's? I was thinking about getting those...the rolled tips are nice and the price is not too bad compared to some of the others.

Yes the AT's, the ones made for 05+ Mustangs.

I ran Mac's on my 06'GT and they were really nice.I had even taken a trip to Dallas,Tx and they didn't have that trombone drone going on.They did sound really different when slowing the car down. Not loud but almost has a Euro sound like a dual piped BMW.The Mac tail pipe filled the cut-outs very nice IOM.

I love my Flows. Nice and deep. You can hear a a little exhaust in the car, but no drone what-so-ever. However, when you step on the gas they get loud. Perfect for me.

Steel: I think you'll be happy returning to the ATs.. I love mine. Three positives: (1) at WOT, you'll definitely capture everyone's attention... (2) on decel (and I have an Auto), Flows give a deep rumble (just by turning off OD), (3) minimal drone.. only slight drone under load. Only negative (to me) is they're pretty dormant during low RPMs and slow cruise.. but I have the stock H and cats still.

I have the FRPP X-Pipe/GTA combo and love it. I think they look and sound great, and have zero drone. If you can find a Shelby GT-H or GT to listen too in person you can judge for yourself. I get compliments on the sound everytime I drive the car

Hey Rich, I've heard your set-up several times and I do love the sound of your car. Nonetheless, I'm going back to the Flows. I'll probably add an O/R H or X to increase the volume. Thank for the advise, but I really did like the Flows and regretted selling them in the first place.

You might throw on the Ford Racing X Pipe and see if you like that also. My friend Shatter and I are going to do a different video this weekend of my car because I have changed lots of things on it including adding the stripes.

Get what you like that's the important thing.

I think I am going to order the Flowmaster AT's Today. RPM Outlet has them for $279.90 shipped...has anyone ordered from there? Also, how difficult is the install on the Flowmaster AT's...do they require any welding? Lastly, will my tune need any adjustment since I'm just changing the axleback, not the mid-pipe? These may be some no-brainer questions, but I'm a newbie when it comes to exhaust.

VERY simple bolt-on. The only tricky part is the positioning of the clamps. No tune is required.

I love the flows....I think they sound great. I drove my 07 GT from CT to Pittsburgh PA last Thanksgiving to visit family (1000 miles round trip) and I loved those flows the whole way.....I noticed no drone unless I wanted it to drone....(love the sound)..I'm am considering the X-pipe but I'm wondering if it makes much of difference......maybe to the trained ear......I haven't heard a stang yet with the x pipe on it aside from sound clips..........
