Nice, I am I am looking at getting the original 2 chamber 40 series Flowmasters instead of their American Thunder Kit, which I currently have.

Was is difficult to get them installed?? How much did it cost you?

It wasn't difficult for them to install it at all. They welded the seams for the inlet and tip total time for install was about 45min. Total cost was $275.00 installed.

If you buy any Flowmasters except thier axleback kit specifically made for the 05+ Mustang, I believe you are losing hp and torque. The original 40 series Muffler that came out showed a loss of power on the dyno, so they developed their 05+ specific kit.

They do sound good though.

Thanks for the info but I haven't felt anything different after they installed them and I drove about 15 miles just to test them out. If it does lose hp and torque it must be minimal.

Good luck I'm on my third warranty replacement set because the baffles broke inside of them and my warranty ran out. Quality product!!!

Now I just have POS paper weights.

Hey Dustin, I'd imagine your 3rd set isnt very old, so it still should be under warranty. Back in August they added some kind of brace inside them and it should be fixed now, so maybe you still have a set of the pre-brace mufflers. However, I am on my 4th set, (with the brace) and although I havent narrowed it down to the mufflers...I believe they are going bad too. Bascially I think this is all happening because of the off-road setup we have. It is resonating to the point that eventually the welds fatigue and break. I would call Flowmaster again and tell them your issue. They had no problem sending me my 4th set. Very nice customer service and treated me very well. I would ask for Mark Emerson, he is the man!

The guy I talked to said that the 1-2 hp loss that may occur, you wont even feel. I mean, these cars are so finicky that there is a big difference in HP when its hot or cold outside. Obviously cooler temperatures means more power, but my point is I think the power loss isnt going to matter all that much when you think about it, because there are so many variables that affect the power. Type of gas, temperature, location, etc.....so I think the couple HP loss wont matter to me. I mean if I dont get a extra tenth of a second in the 1/4 mile its not gonna break my heart. As long as it sounds good, I am happy.

If your losing 1 or 2 HP with the Flows a couple of breakfast burritos would surely take another 2HP to pull the extra load

Actually the "American thunder kit" is just the regular flowmaster super 40 mufflers with 2005-2007 mustang specific hangers welded on. They are not designed for more hp with the new mustang.
