Flowmasters or Ford performance mufflers?

I like the flows on my mustang, but I was looking at the Ford mufflers that come with the power pack. How go do they sound? Are they cheaper Flowmasters or just a slightly louder set from Ford.

If you look at the price, they are only 150 more when you buy the power pack over just the FRPP CAI kit.

Let me hear from you,

I just sold a set of Flows... not because I didn't like them, I just wanted louder. I personally loved the sound of the Flows. If there was a way to turn up the volume they'd be perfect. I assume that you're talking about the GTAs If so, I haven't personally heard them, but many have reported positive results

Eliminating the cats were never an option for me... but you're right, O/R H would definitely increase volume.

I'm elminating cats and mufflers! I've got some Flowmasters new in unopened box that I'm gonna sell as long as my SLPs aren't overly crazy

I have considered The SLP loud mouths and on my car, I am running SLP LT and X pipe and flows and it is just loud enought before PITA to others. My wife loves the sound of my car, and I am considering SLP's.

Back to my post, I see the FRPP mufflers that come with the CAI set up and they don't look much different than the stock ones and it looks a lot like the JEGS brand they offer for 189 a set. I want to keep the FRPP look going on her GTCS, but I dont want to dump 700 bucks on a CAI and then drop another 300 on Flows.

I am so confused!

I saw a dyno pull on the flowmaster axle-backs and they didn't make any extra power over stock so it would be just for the sound if you go with them. I have the FRPP GTA mufflers and they don't sound much louder than stock from inside the car from what I can tell (mufflers not "seasoned" yet though). I don't know if the GTA mufflers make any power over stock either. I'd say, go with whatever setup you like the sound of best.

Other than sound ? none of the aftermarket axle backs will provide very much if any improvements performance wise over stock as the factory mufflers are much less restrictive over the previous generation..

If you are buying on the basis of sound quality alone, you may want to consider the MAC stainless steel axlebacks. The low rumble is just perfect for theses cars!

Just remember, if you ask 10 people which exhaust sounds the best, you may get 10 different answers! No 2 sets of ears are exactly the same.
