Flowmasters

I put mine on a week ago. It took a few days . Say 50 miles or so...

I like mine, if I were you i would loosen the midpipe from the start. Then I bet you can change them out without fully removing the rear hanger on both sides. The bolts on the rear hanger are a real bear to get back in.

Love em. The drone is very tolerable. I had flows (2 chamber) on my 96 Cobra . Bad drone! These tend to be pretty quiet until you stick your foot into it. Which IMHO is perfect.

Thanks, but I actually got them from Summit....They were $275, but shipping was free. (2 days!) so, it was about the same price after shipping.
Could you maybe PM me the phone number of that mustang expert. I've got other stuff i want to do with my car that would be easier in a shop.

From Their Site: SPINTECH has just "Unleashed" its all new Stainless steel X-Pipe and axle back system. This is the most aggressive sounding Mustang system ever. It produces over 20 rear wheel horse power and plenty of torque. "You ain't heard nothing yet!" Axle back systems sell for $385.95 and complete X-pipe with axle back systems sell for $699.95.
That's pricey. Definitely would like to hear the sound clip on this one. Aside from the gains their X-pipe gives (proven?), I've yet to find one that produces a sound I like. All sound raspy, regardless of the axle backs that are on. Of course it's 100% a matter of what a person wants their car to sound like. I'm looking strictly for the deep rumble of a muscle car and not just loud. I personnaly will like more hps through other means vs having a sound that I don't like. It's all a matter of sound taste.

They havent dyno proven the power gains and they are basing it off the gains they have gotten on a 03 GT mustang with an x pipe and mufflers. But I highly doubt it. I really like the sound of the spintech's. Definately louder and deeper than any of the flowmasters I have heard. But that is how much I paid. I have been so busy that I havent been able to post a sound clip or Pictures.

Thats what I did on my car. I just took and loosened the clamps on the midpipe and Slid them towards the rear of the car onto the mid pipes and then slid the whole assembly towards the rear of the car and by doing that it gets the whole thing away from the H-pipe. THen you can unbolt the mufflers of the pipes and slide the pipes off and then slide the mufflers off the hangers once they are free from the mid pipes. Its easyer than taking off the hangers.

Wish I had thought of it before I took the first one off. Would have made the whole job a snap. Second one was a breeze.

I just ordered a set a flowmasters and should have them sometime this week. I was wondering if there's any need to reset the computer or will it learn the new set up over time. Also I was wanting to know if anyone noticed any horsepower gains, I've read a few post where people were saying it actually lost like maybe 2hp which is no big deal but I wanted to know if anyone has proven that.

Also, no need to disconnect the battery for just the mufflers.

My Flowmasters acutally have to be sent back to Flowmaster for the weld problem in the right muffler, and it seems a lot of kits are affected with this weld coming loose and making a annoying rattling sound. Good thing these Flowmasters got warranty's.

Aft-Axle Exhaust Comparison as Tested by Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords
The Flowmasters in this test show a significant increase in power below 3000 RPM, and then mostly 1-2 HP & Torque gain from there on up.

Maverick,
At which weld joint should I be looking at?
Thanks

No, its a weld inside the passenger side muffler.
To do the test, take a rubber mallet, and start tapping the muffler from the bottom of the muffler, if you happen to hear the rattle, call the shop or co. you bought the kit from, they will send you a replacement kit out to you and have you send the old kit back to Flowmaster. Flowmaster is aware of this situation with the defective 05 Flowmaster kits, just for everyone else's info if they happen to get it.

I just put mine on two weeks ago or so. Is there a stock number or something you can check for to see if you got a set of the bad ones?
