How do you guys with the Flowmasters for the 05 stand the drone at start up? When starting my car in the morning the drone sets in at about a 1000 rpm when coming down from the fast idle and just about loosens my teeth! Other than that they sound fine.

You think that's bad? Try the loudmouths or equivalent. I thought the sound of the flowmasters was pretty mellow. Maybe yours are loose or something.

I actually roll down my windows every day before I start up my car, because it sounds so good. Another benefit of rolling down the windows is that while it's louder, it doesn't seem to resonate as much in the interior of the car. That may be imagination, or I may be distracted by how cool it sounds, but you might try that. In my 1-car apartment garage, of course, it gets MUCH louder with the windows down, so that might not be an improvement. Outside of the garage... I just love the sound!

I swore I would never have any other catback than Borla and bought Flowmasters axleback for the GT because of availability and lack of Borla availability. I am glad I did. As it has been said "this is not your father's Oldsmobile", it applies to the new GTs in the same respect. It is the perfect muscle car sound, not extremely loud but loud enough and the perfect rumble.

Nothing better at 4:30am when I leave for work to hear that vrooom... Since I just learned to drive stick recently, I sometimes have trouble with first, so the neighborhood gets to wake up with me..

Disturbing the peace, arrest warrant, bail bondsman, attorney fees... a few hundred bucks.

Finding out the the guy waken up at 4:30 in the morning is the presiding judge... priceless!

I love, my favorite part is letting off the gas at about 18mph and hear the LOUD popping sound. Makes me smile everytime!

Any aftermarket axleback is going to provide "drone" somewhere in the RPM range (Corsa is advertising they have an 05 muffler that is droneless, but no one seems to have it installed). Lowering the window seems to disrupt the vibration somewhat. I have a MAC exhaust, and I LOVE that startup sound at 5:00am. Wakes up the whole household. It drones HORRIBLY at 1800-2100rpm at speed--I mean, it's an instant cure for constipation, but I either lower the window, turn up the stereo, drive a bit faster, or shift into a lower gear. Or all of the above.

I've got the Corsa installed, and they are right .. there is no drone. It is really nice. To me it was well worth the money. The sound brings a big smile to my face when I start it up each morning.

I love my flowmasters. I just wish they were a little louder. I love the drone too. Especially under heavy load, like driving up hill!

The Corsa's look pretty good but they're not cheap.

http://www.corsaperf.com/mustang.htm

I see them listed for $580 in some places:

http://www.livernoismotorsports.com/...t.phtml?p=1098

That's probably more than most people would want to spend.

Don't worry about recording the sound - it does not reproduce well anyhow.

The sound recorder on your digital camera or mobile phone is not going to cut it i'm afraid
