First oil change (what's everyone using?)

I'm about to do my first oil change. What is everyone using?????? Should I go with Ford's recommendation or has someone found something better? I did a search for this topic and found nothing so I'm sorry if this is a repeat question.

You really can't go wrong with Motorcraft 5W20 and a shiny new FL820S. If you want to do extended OCIs then Amsoil or MOBIL 1.

I changed my oil the first time at 200 miles, used Motorcraft 5W-20.
Changed again at 1,000 to what will be in it for the remainder of it's life
MOBIL1 5W-20

(*) first 2-3 changes were w/the motorcraft, and switched to Mobil 1 at 7k.

My only oil change so far was free, The dealer used motorcraft, I was told it was a synthetic blend.

I let the dealer do my first change. The ford oil is a blend which, depending on who you ask/what you read is as good as a synthetic or not. After the first change, switched to Mobil 1

I have read but have no personal experience that would either verify or indicate otherwise that the oil-pressure-sensitive VVT relies on the viscosity of 5W20 to work correctly. So to that extent "they" say to stick with a 5W20 regardless of brand and that 5W20 should meet Fords' specification. After that it's just a choice of availability, cost and "feel good" factor.

you should wait 7-8K miles before switching to synthetic to let the engine pass break in period with regular oil

I went with 5-20 Mobil 1 on my first change and I use a Ford Racing oil filter #FL820. I don't drive my car enough the worry about the miles so I bought 3 filters and will change the oil every 4 months.

Change it if you want, but if you are not putting on many miles as I, it is not necessary.

To answer the orignal poster, Motorcraft 5-20 blend is just fine for the 3-V. Mobil1 is fine after you past 5K miles, but only if your going for extended mile use, otherwise just like useing 93 octane without a tune, just wasting money.

Royal Purple 5W-20. A little pricey, but well worth it for my baby.

Amsoil XL 5W-20, change every 10,000 miles.

Also use Amsoil oil filter.

Amsoil's 2000 series is good for 35,000 miles, so they claim. I have not put it to the test. Somebody let me know if this claim is true.
