Finally Ready for My First Mod!

Hi Guys, long time troller, finally have something to talk about. It took a long time, but I have scraped enough money together after getting married, moving, buying a house, etc, etc. Anyway, my first mod will be of course intake and tune, prolly C&L/Bamachips tune. However my wife is concerned that it wont be loud enough So we have been looking at axle back systems and the corsa exhaust sounds sick!, the price is a bit high though. So my question is this, what would give better performance and sound(I know sound is subjective), should I go with the corsa or an H-pipe? (wifey loves the deep muscle car sound) Any input is appreciated.

BTW, the wife has become the full time driver of the car since I now have a company car. F'n Impalas suck

Intake and tune for the first mods, absolutely.....

As far as exhaust, adding the offroad pipe will definetely open up the sound. If you decide to do mufflers, look at the Borlas or even the Magnaflow magnapacks, IF you're going to keep the factory mid pipe. If you think you're going to do the offroad mid pipe at some point, maybe look at the regular Magnaflows.

Hey Steve, welcome to a fellow Texan.

I started with the C&L and a Brenspeed 93 tune and the next thing I did was the Borla stingers. I didn't mess with the midpipe because I knew I'd be putting LT headers on eventually, and I did. The Borlas sound awesome if you aske me. Haven't heard the Corsas in person and you're right they were a little bit more pricey when I was looking.

Yeah, forgot about the headers, those hopefully will be in my future as well. It is just hard to spend so much just on mufflers. Will the intake and tune change the sound dramatically?

BTW Gary, your car is friggin sweet!, Black car, black stripes is maybe the sickest thing I have ever seen!

It will slightly. But not as much as you're probably looking for. Look for some slightly used mufflers on here, some may have decided they already want to try something else.

2007AlloyGT, we are in the same boat as I am finally getting ready to make some changes to my 07 Alloy ragtop (1.5 years later). And although my getting "caught up" was on the other of end things (divorce plus newly built home), my list is growing daily as I use this forum as my reference for parts, feedback/reviews, pricing, sources, etc., etc. Just picked up a slightly used set of GTA axle backs, X2 tuner, and a couple trim parts. And before the end of this long WI winter, want to have a Bullitt CAI (with a custom Bama tune), convertible bar and good jump start on the GT500 SS conversion.

Sounds like a sick build plan, make sure to keep us updated on that. I am keeping my plans small for now, Gary's car is an extreme example (love that car) of what I am going for. I want to black out as much of the car as I can, including black stripes, black 18" chrome bullitts, black out tint for any and all lenses on the car, etc. Also would like a small drop (steeda ultralites), a chin spoiler, and prolly GT/CS rear bumper. Along with the two performance mods I listed above, I think I would be happy for a long time. At least until I save up for the TURBO

Thanks Steve. That is a huge compliment.

You're the Steve from Phoenix, right. Looks like your Suns beat the Spurs for a change.

Good combo is a CAI, Tune, and Stingers.

Hey, that's the combo I ran back in the day.

I knew a guy who put in a 4.6 in a 72 Mach 1. He just left the cats in it and ran straight pipes out to the back from those. It sounded *killer*.

So... just in case that entered the process...
