Went up to Route 66 raceway today and got 4 runs in. This was my first time to the track and it was an awesome experience. My first run was my best and that's what the timeslip pic is from. I was racing a pontiac solstice with a turbo setup and as you can see from the timeslip the race was very close it was a great rush. I was car #455 in the left lane. The rest of my runs were pretty bad.

First run was a 13.61 @ 102.5 with 2.077 60' (very nice launch and good run)
Second run was a 14.1 @ 104 with 2.42 60'(left traction control on and bogged at start DOH!)
Third was a 13.86@ 88.85 with 2.13 60' (missed third)
Fourth was 14.09 @ 104.6 with 2.44 60' (spinning through most of first because tried launching at higher rpm)

Overall I'm happy with my results for the first time at the track but think I could definitly improve with more practice. I aim to be in the low 13's by the end of the summer. Anyways heres a couple pics and the timeslip. the guy in the yellow 05 GTO is a friend and he smoked me on that run. That was my third run where I missed third and he ran a 13.2 @ 105 with a 1.97 60'

The guy driving it actually owns a company that is developing a turbo kit for the car and he was there testing it out. It's a single turbo pushing 10psi making around 300 crank hp. They have about 180 stock he said. The car weighs under 3000 lbs. Was a really nice looking car too. His company is developing a turbo setup for the 05 stang as well. I offered my car up if he needs any more test mules.

Out of curiousity, what RPMs did you try (i.e. first and last run)? I'm headed out to Bandimere Raceway next Sunday to run my baby for the first time and have no idea how she'll react to various RPM ranges.

The first run i launched at around 2000rpm and that worked pretty good. the next 2 runs I launched around 2500 rpm and they would've been good if I didnt screw up the rest of the runs. The last one I tried 3000rpm and that was just too high and made me spin all through first. It depends a lot on your tires, I have BFG KDW2 285's in the back, and a lot on the track condition, the track yesterday was very nice and sticky. I would say just start lower and keep going higher until you spin too much or try feathering the clutch at the higher rpm launchs. Good luck next Sunday.

hehe no I won that one. I think he ran like a 14.3 or something. Only race I lost was to the GTO and I don't mind losing to an LS2. Those cars fly.

I didn't know that 66 had a T&T on Saturdays. I've been to test and tunes during the week. Pretty good times. What rpms were you shifting at. I found that shifting at 6200 resulted in the fastest times.

Yeah this is the first year they did it I guess. It was only for the last 2 Saturdays. The rest of the test and tune nights will be during the week.

I was trying to shift between 6000 and 6200. I think I shifted a little early on my first run so I know there's room for improvement.

I wish they would do more Saturday T&T's at Rt. 66 since it's so close. Route 66 also shuts down early in the fall when the air is good compared to Byron or GLD. Another thing I never understood is why they aren't open on Friday nights? It would be a place for street racers to go instead of doing it on the streets. Have various Chicoland Police departments sponsor a weekly Friday night Real Street drag event like at GLD. The place is in the middle of cornfields, so noise cannot be a concern.

As for your car, it's got a few tenths in it with a better 60' and consistent shifting.

daytime T&T's are awesome, and I wish we could have more of them. Good times and the car looks great too.

Good run and nice pictures, definitely a nice looking track. Missing 3rd is no fun, just jamming the shifter into solid piece of metal is the worst feeling.

blk05, nice times

I'm still stock and it took me 8 runs on two different days to get my best time (see sig below) and 5 more runs on another day to really get any consistancy on the launch. I was at GLD in Wisconsin this spring for all of my runs during their opening week.

Street radials suck as well!

Good luck! Practice, practice, practice...

BTW, I love the no spoiler look! Nice car! I did the spoiler delete also.

Hopefully this was a test to see what kind of turnout they would get on weekends. The turnout was pretty good so hopefully they will be doing it more in upcoming years. Also looking at their website it look like they added another Sat T&T on May 6th this year.

She definately has more in her. With similar mods as you (minus the UDP's) I ran a 13.208 @ 106. Installed my UDP's last night and I'm going back to the track tonight to see if I can hit 12.9's. Nice cool (65) day today and very dry, it should happen but we'll see.
