Finally installed my Flowmaster American Thunders
They arrived yesterday and were going to be my weekend project. I got impatient and went to the local exhaust shop to have em put on instead. The sound is not much louder to me though from the exterior. Definately louder interior, especially at low rpms, but I didn't think it was all that much louder at WOT. When I got back to work, I had a coworker take it down the street to hear it, and I must say I was a little disappointed. I've heard these get a little louder over time, I'm sure hoping so.
On the other hand, I sure like the looks of the tips

I've had them on my GT for a little over a month. Mine took a few weeks to settle in, but IMO they sounded pretty great from the start. Deep throaty rumble but not as loud as SLPs. My only complaint is there is still some cabin drone at around 2000 RPMs, but you can mimimize that with gear selection on the manual or truning off the overdrive on the automatic.
Since they are a chambered design, I really don't think that the sound will increase over time. With packed muffs, the packing will show some loss over time and the sound does change. Even knowing this... i swear mine got deeper and louder over the last month or so. Funny how that works.

I agree. Mine definitely have gotten deeper and louder. They are starting to get that signature Flowmaster sound that you hear like on the 04 on back Mustangs with the Flowmaster 40 series mufflers. I think the lack of a tailpipe has a lot to do with the sound difference on the 05.
yup, had mine for 3 months now, they def got louder as they broke it....
Had one of the guys on the forum on here "elvism", stopped by his house the one day to show him the Flowmasters, took him for a spin and when I dropped him off and departed, I opened up FULL THROTTLE about 1/2 mile down the road and he buzzed me back on my cell and said, "MAN, THEY SOUND NICE!, I CAN HEAR YOU A MILE AWAY!"

I have the same complaint w/ the drone. Several folks on this site have said adding a CAI will decrease to nearly eliminate it! Not to mention the CAI will improve the sound and performance. Until then, I keep it in 4th gear a little longer to stay away from the 2K rpm range while crusin'.
I also like the way they sound after you coast in gear for about 3-4 seconds and the throttle finally lets the RPMs come down. It makes that little deep throaty rumble, slight, but you can hear it when the windows are down anyway.
They should not get any louder as they are not glass-packs (aka vance&hiness bike mufflers or the old cherry bombs)... They are chamber mufflers and use the physics of sound (reflection/refrraction) to perform noise cancellation and optimize scavaging...

Yes, they get louder. As you've seen, many people will tell you that because of their design they don't. In REAL life, they do. The JBA's are also chambered and they get louder in about a week. Just ask Hatchman about his.
Decisions Decisions. This is one of the mods I want to do 1st. Always different thoughts and ideas on each system. Makes it hard to decide. Need a nice mustang meet in Chicago or something so I can hear a good variety in person.
I am also still trying to decide what I want.
From what I can tell the two main things you have to decide are how much money are you willing to spend and what is more important to you, LOUD or DEEP. After everything I've read it seems you can't truly have both.

The Flowmaters are a good value at $277.39 (including shipping) from http://www.summitracing.com And from what I can tell the craftsmanship is very good... I also like the fact that the muffler body is painted/powder coated (not sure which) black and looks good snugged up underneath...
