Well, after a "week from he11" at work last week, I actually made it to the track last Friday night... with the MT Drag Radials. Once I got the tire pressure set correctly and my auto trans launch figured out, the M/Ts hooked pretty well (even on the piece-of-poo local temporary track). My average 60' times were about a 1/10 lower than my last two trips to the track, and on one run I got my first sub-2.0 time (1.995 sec). That pass was in the Bracket Race, and I had to hit the brakes hard before the finish line (to avoid possibly breaking out and giving away the race). So, I didn't get a full pass number (it might have been a good one).

But, all in all it was a good night at the track. The car did make it's quickest 1/8mi run ever, 8.702 sec at 80.35mph (which is about 13.46 sec in the 1/4-mi). I also walked away with two more trophies... one for 2nd Place in the ET3 Class, and another for best reaction time of the night, 0.506 (on a 0.500 tree). Results are posted on the RaceLegal.com website... pics should be posted there in the next couple days, too. I also made it to the Semi-Finals of the Bracket Race (where I lost on a redlight... d'oh!).

Don, I don't like your 60' times.. :P What are you leaving at? Are you bogging or breaking the tires loose. You should atleast be in the 1.8's with the M/T's.

I have an auto trans... all I can do is power brake it up to between 2000-2500 rpm.

two trophies to end the week, not a bad deal after a long week

How about a looser convertor to help those 60`s ?
Just a thought...

Funny thing is, before I left for the track, my wife said, "Have fun... Bring me home a couple trophies." She was surprised on Saturday morning when I showed them to her. haha

I considered a different TC, but I've read where higher stall speeds and superchargers aren't really a good combination on the street. And since I'm planning on a SC, I need to be very careful there.

Way to go Don!

Nice!

I have been considering a set of those tires as well - where did you get yours at and how much did you pay??

[just noticed your sig and that you are thinking about the Saleen SC down the road..... I have been rolling that idea around myself as well but it wouldn't be until WAY down the road...]

Nice, cool way to surprise the wife

A looser convertor by a few hundred RMP would help greatly. Adding a B&M supercooler w/intergrated fan in a remote location would be ideal for the extra cooling that would be needed. it can be done without issues..IMO
You'll need a bigger tranny cooler for sure when the blower goes on.

The MT 275/40-17s were on national backorder for a few weeks, but I eventually got a pair from Lethal Performance, http://www.lethalperformance.com, 877-2LETHAL. I paid $380 shipped to SoCal.

I have all my money tied up in a piece of real estate right now, but once I sell it, I'll be ordering the SC immediately!!

Good points... part of many things I need to consider for the overall package.

One would think, huh? It doesn't help that the 1/8-mile "track" I run on is actually just the asphalt parking lot at Qualcomm Stadium (where the Chargers play). Track prep (if any) has a very limited effect on that type of surface. However, by comparison, my car is at least 3/10 to 5/10 of a second quicker than the rest of the (non-supercharged) '05 Mustangs out there. So, it's not doing as bad as it may seem by the numbers alone. In fact, one guy has a Vortech-blown '05 (9psi, 480rwhp), and runs just 8.20s at best (~12.70s in the 1/4).

BTW, I wish I had access to 93 Oct gas, too... stuck with California 91 though. :bang:

Don...i talked with Lidio about TC..he has the Stallion...and he ius so so on the issue...he doesn't think it will be very practical on the street...he really tries to tune for all around driveability. He also has a super charger...give him a call on TC and sc info...he is running on Methanol now...lol Sick dude!

Thanks, Fman... I wondered if anyone had changed out the TC and went with a blower.

Anybody else out there tried it yet?

I wouldn't say I am a good driver yet, but I'm working on it to keep getting better. One thing about less-than-stellar tracks... everyone there has to deal with the same conditions, so it's an even playing field for bracket races.

There is a 2nd 1/8-mi track near San Diego (Barona). It has a better surface, but it's at altitude and generally much warmer. One of these days, I'm going to get a chance to run there with good air, and see what happens then. The next chance for me will be on Nov 12, but it is only running during the daylight hours, so I'm not overly optimistic.

Hey Don, are there any 1/4 mile tracks in S.D. County. Or do you have to go North for a 1/4 miler. There entire time I lived over there were my "sleeping years"

No Tony... the closest one is in Fontana (which is 90 miles from my house in North San Diego County).

I had a 1.97 at Palmdale CA 2700 ft elevation and it was 97 degrees
