research has shown me that 10.5inch rims are impossible.

Where are you anticipating interference, and what is the off-set? Perhaps 10.5 in the rear, but not in the front?

 

For the rear, if you could find something with a 45mm offset that would put the lip of the rim about even with the rear fender lip. Looks more roomy on the back side, so a little more offset would pull the lip of the rim back in. The rest depends on what kind of tire you fit ... wider means even more offset is needed.
