Good question. I was wondering the same thing. If they are really accurate then you would know exaclty what your mixture would be. I see that Autometer has come out with their pillar pods for the 05. Good spot for one.

I recieved a new autometer catalog through our auto parts store. i get to see alot of new produts before they are released to the public. They are making them in a few styles. The single and dual pillar pods, pt# 10128 for the single and pt#10127 for the dual. Or dual or triple pillars. pt#12127 for the dual and pt#12128 for the triple.

Be careful gents. If the A/F meter uses a narrow band O2 sensor (single wire, three wire), then it is ONLY a rich/lean indicator. An LED would work just as well with on for lean and off for rich...

The very short summary is that a narrow band sensor can NOT tell you WHAT your A/F is, only that you are rich or lean. It has a hugely bimodal response curve.

Now, if it has a 5+ wire wide band O2 sensor and controller, that system CAN tell you what your A/F actually is (assuming the sensor is installed BEFORE the catylitic converter!). But the sensor along cost more than most of the standalone A/F "meters" I have seen (I just ordered a sensor for my WB and the sensor alone cost $180). There are a could of good kits on the market that use a proper WB sensor and control (notice how I keep mentioning the controller? With a proper controller, the best WB sensor in the world is junk), but they are in the $400+ range.

I was thinking the same thing. Wouldn't the WB sensors already be there? With the computer system that is in these cars it would make sense that there is a WB sensor already in place. I haven't installed my X pipe yet but when it warms up a little I will check on this.

For people getting their 2005s dyno'd; are the air/fuel meters set up on the exhaust tip or before the catalytic?

I found this aftermarket meter and they claim that the exhaust mounting of the meter can lean to a 'lean' reading, which worst case I guess isn't as bad as giving a rich reading.

I'm planning on getting a CAI/tune; but in another thread, it was asked what if I planned on getting more mods done beyond the CAI and tune specifically for the CAI. That got me thinking - it looks like the A/F is the most critical thing to monitor and change after any induction/exhaust mod, so would one of these meters be a worthwhile investment? A dyno & a custom tune, being expensive and a long drive (for a quality shop) for me would justify the cost of one of these wideband meters after 2 or 3 trips. The JLT & Diablo tune - when it comes out will be great for now, but if I want to add and X-pipe or other crap down the road, having the A/F meter will let me do the backyard mechanic thing without worrying about hosing the motor.
And I can lie about the HP increase.
My biggest concern is after whatever I do to the motor it won't put me into a detonation/lean situation.

So, does the tuning equipment - SCT/Diablo - have methods for adjusting the A/F once the current running ratio is found?

Would the tuner - Diablo or SCT and the A/F meter be a safe base toolset to recommend for anyone looking to mod a 2005 Muatang?

Thanks!

I just started to install the dynojet wide band last night and made some custome gauge pods for the dash.As far as I can tell its a very nice kit that also allows you to data log your system.;

If I was going to buy a wideband this would be it:

The AEM unit is nice too. Make sure you get a wideband that has datalogging functions, so you can street tune the car accurately.

Here are mine (A/F, fuel press & boost). I did the physical install but I had the wiring done by a shop.
