Exhaust sound help needed
I have a set of JLT LT Headers and x pipe with currently flowmasters.
The sound is to high pitch for my taste of a muscle car. What muffler would give it the deep growl that it needs?
My wife's car with SLP loudmouths and a stock H pipe and exhaust sounds good.

I agree with both of the Matt's. I personally do not like the sound of an X-pipe on these cars. I have ran the Borla's for a year and agree they have the best tone out there but the drone suks. If I were you I would first go back to a H-pipe. If you don't like that maybe try a Mac Prochamber like I am running. It will futher lower the tone of the exhaust.

Check out my sig (H-Pipe, catted, L/T)! Borla Stingers all the way! I LOVE HOW MY CAR SOUNDS!!! If you want to hear how they sound with my longtubes? Go and click on the link below!!!! It was filmed during a BadMustangsClub.com cruise to Long Beach Island's Barnaget Lighthouse after a show. My car comes into view at 00:30 into the video. Crank your speakers and hear the sound and see if its what you want.

There is sound, just the Grabber Oranges didn't get it put on the video. Sound comes on as they pass.
When I saw the person taking the video, I dropped down a gear and stood on it (hence you could see the weight transfer). I couldn't believe how it sounded!!!
Oh and about the drone? Its only at 1,700 to 2,000 RPM's. Once you go over that, its gone! Nowhere near as bad as made to believe. Totally livable if you have a 5-speed (since you can control it better than an auto).

The problem is you want to get rid of the high pitch sound. That is what you originally posted was what you disliked about your exhaust. It is not your muffler choice that is creating your issue. It is the X-pipe. So pick any muffler you want...you will still have the problem. PM Tom281 about his experience with an X-pipe and Corsa, Bassani, and Borla's mufflers. He complained of the same issue as you but only corrected it when he went back to the offroad H-pipe. And go to a Mac Prochamber like I am running and that will deepen the tone more than a H-pipe will. Changing the X-pipe to an H-pipe will cost much less than about any mufflers. Why is getting rid of the x-pipe an issue?

Also, go back to your original post and read your last sentence about your wifes car. You already answered your own question.

No need to PM me, I'm right here just observing yet another exhaust thread...... these cars are so hard to make sound "right" that there are 1000s of exhaust threads.
As Scott said, in my experience you'll do yourself a big favor by running an H pipe or Prochamber system on these cars. With that, you can run darn near any brand/style of muffler and get good results. But with an X it become much harder; if you insist on running a X pipe than you're best best is Borla for deep tone, Corsa for overall great tone with a tad less aggression.

If I could do it all over again I would go bassani catted x-pipe and stingers...or maybe jba mufflers but definently the bassani x although I love my prochamber. I think the higher pitch sound of the x-pipe coupled with with the deep tone of the stingers is great...

Here is a video I put together when I had my Stingers paired with a Catted Bassani X pipe...It gives a very good example of how it would sound in real life

Gotta get rid of the X. That's the only way you'll be happy with the sound. No muffler choice is going to fix what you're complaining about. H or Pro-chamber is the only way to go for deepness.
