A question for those of you that have had your GT's for a while.
Does the exhaust note change in any way as you put some miles on her?
Does it get better? Worse? Or stay the same?
Do you find yourself wanting to change the exhaust?

I changed my exhaust but everyday I contemplate re-installing the stock exhaust. In hind sight, the stock exhaust is close to perfect. I removed my Hydrocarbon Trap and that gave the stock exhaust a little extra growl. It all boils down to what your preferences are.

Did you get the 2005 Ford Mustang GT 4.6L, V8, American Thunder Back Half System?
Has anybody installed this kit yet? Do you like it/recommend?

What brand exhaust system did you replace the stock with?

Bassani. I have no problem with the sound, just at times it seems a bit loud but everyone who hears it loves. I guess I am just getting old . They also have a habit of setting of car alarms when I drive past.

I Have No Life
It may change over time, depending on the mufflers.
The Borla S-Type seems to have changed a bit....still sounds GREAT.
Be careful with which exhaust you choose, at not all are known for the power increases. Some may be just sound, and some may actually lose HP (ie: Flowmaster (maybe not on this car, but in prior years, flowmasters alone were actually known to lose HP)

When removing the hydrocarbon trap - did you have to get retuned? have you seen any adverse impacts on the cars performance ?
thanks

I did not get a tune but I put it back in after reading 5.0 magazine test that showed you lost hp after removal without a tune.

I have had mine for about three months now, I changed mine to the MAC SS axle-backs after about a week. The sound at first was loud! and it would pop alot when it was cold, and had alot of drone from 1800-1950k. Now the drone or my hearing is gone, she has a sweet mellow rumble. Oh yeah, I also installed the WMS Ram air, and this might have something to do with the sound now.

I just had the mental image of him driving down the street and his car setting off every car alarm as it passes.

It would be funny if it wasn't true. If my new Flowmasters do that, I'm going to have to switch it back to stock. The people in my complex will kill me.

Yo Yo Yo, my Hookas and turn downed Straights set off alarms now. Im the loudest and meanest 05 Mustang in existance in the Bay Area.
What kind of tone does it have? I would say it sounds very close to a Cobra when it begins to open up for business.
