the funny thing is that the computer says that my ave. speed is 28 mph...hah! Me thinks somethings up.
That just means you have done mostly city driving, if you sit a traffic light for 5 minutes, that counts as going 0 mph for those 5 minutes and counts against your average. And you really can't get going too fast on city streets, well I guess that depends on the city, I know I can't, people drive slow down here, and clog up every lane, lol.

OOH and I cant WAIT to clog those roads up myself this summer!

Its gonna be fun- and I think her third road trip.

Costs $22 to fill.......Usually fill around mile 275 which leaves me on 1/8 tank or so, as it is right now. Oh, gas here is $1.61.

getting around 12.4 MPG average. I live near everything and work is only a 3 mile drive with 13 stop lights and one stop sign. So not so bad considering. However driving to the same places in my 4 banger, and driving it HARD, I still got 22MPG. The fun factor more than makes up for it though. I do wish Ford had given us larger gas tanks, starting to know gas station attendants by name.

It will be interesting when I take my anual trip up north, 600 mile drive. Curious what kind of fuel economy I'll be getting then.

Some tips to get better gas mileage:

Make sure there are not a lot of objects in the car that you basicly do not need. For example: do not drive around with a bag of golf clubs in the trunk all of the time. (or them dead hookers B) )

Fill up the tank in the early morning. It's colder at night and the gas is more dense, so you're getting a little bit more for your money.

About four tanks of gas in......

Message center says 17.5 - which I am perfectly happy with for the time being.

Truthfully, the very last thing on my mind when getting another V-8 Mustang was gas mileage.

I know they are thirsty compared with that I used to drive and perfectly fine with that. Just thinking about going back to the Escort...... heck, more gas = more power = me very happy. B) No problem with THAT math...

Another tip I have is that you have a 5th gear, use it. If I am keeping a constant speed over 40 mph, I have it in 5th, keeps the engines RPM pretty low and drives the gas mileage up. If you need to accelerate, you can always down shift.

23 MPG but after I tune it this weekend I hope to get at least 25mpg

Not bad for a GT. My 97 GT only got 18-19MPG

I am afraid to look but I'll put it like this. Everytime I get close to a gas station my car starts to vear off in it's direction. My wife has decided to put my foot on a diet. Thinks it's a little to heavy. It's impossible for me to drive that car without rolling down the windows and and letting it loose to listen to that exhuast......

I havent taken into account sitting at lights...but ignoring that I would venture to guess my average speed would be 75-80mph....and I am mostly in 5th gear all the time...I get there fast....lol. No seriously though I have tried driving my car in different ways, even nice and slow and granny shifting...still poor gas mileage. Whatever I dont really care...its a Mustang...not a Honda.

I just clocked up 1006 miles today, have had car for 7days, four tanks of gas. 19.3 mpg by my math. message center saids 19.1 mpg. 2/3 miles on highway the rest in town. I thought I was doing good when all you want to do is stand on the throttle.

At 1,700 miles I'm averaging 20.8 overall. The best tank got slightly over 23. I haven't had a "baby it" tank yet, I've always ended up just gunning the crap out of her at some point and wasting a cup of fuel. But I was expecting to get around 17.......so I'm thrilled!

I'm finally getting a chance to see what kind of mileage I get in town only. Since that fill up I've been approx. 100 miles and have used almost a half a tank. Doesn't look good so far, but I'm having fun and that's all that counts!
