Unhappy

I had almost decided to purchase the Borla CatBacks for my car, until I was driving back with my friend last night.

He has a 2000 GT, and the previous owner really did some stuff to the car. So far, we know that he has a K&N intake AND flowmasters...but it looks like his pipes are straight...no mufflers. I thought flowy's always had mufflers, but maybe the 2000-2004 model had different flowmasters?

His car will wake the dead. My GT sounded like a camry when i was driving in back of my friends GT. It is SO deep, SO throaty, SO many gurgles, yet somehow, unlike Magnaflows and what not, the exhaust is KILLER loud, too.

I will try to get a sound clip or video of this ASAP to let you guys know what I mean, but what, if any, setup can sound like this in the GT? The deepness gets to your ears when the car is 2-300 feet away...and its just VERY loud!

EDIT!!!!

Video is now uploaded, THANK YOU Brandon!

Friend's GT!

If you want loud without massive amounts of rasp: Magnaflow xpipe + magnapacks. They're basicly straight pipes.

About that X Pipe, what options do I have? And which X would you recommend?

I plan to go to a shop somewhere and get the 2000 GT lifted up so we can maybe figure out if the car indeed only has the straight pipe flowmasters on it. Man I REALLY wish I could have that sound...Its SO deep and SO loud and throaty...

I feel your pain, GhostGT. I've finally got my 06 and now comes ordering the exhaust but just like you I'm still unsure  I don't want the high pitched "tin" sound.

I would like a DEEP and LOUD rumble. Preferably an exhaust that would make any ricer within a one mile radius lose bowel control.

If I could, i'd like to go with a highflow catted Xpipe and axleback combo. Now the million dollar question is which combo sound the best? I know sound preference is subjective and everybody would probably suggest their exhaust combo, but I wonder if anybody has heard many different combos on the 05 and could give an honest opinion on the deepest, and meanest?

While I'm thinking about it, it's also disappointing that MM&FF didn't have sound descriptions during their tests on the 05 exhausts. :notnice: I really would've like to know the sound difference between the Magnaflow highflow catted Xpipe and the Bassani highflow catted Xpipe.

Wow you read my mind perfectly. My friend bought me the MM&FF magazine and told me about the exhaust comparison, and i was like :worship: !!!

Then I read it...and its like, Wow you people suck at comparing exhausts. There was really not more than three sentences about the sound of all the exhausts they compared...

The thing is...I stil want to know what will make my car sound EXACTLY like my friend's... DEEP as the bass on my subwoofers, LOUD as heck, and SO throaty and gurgly that it will make me smile every time.

Have you consider the SLP Loudmouths? No mufflers... just pipes.

Still uploading to the server...
Right-Click, Save-As

I screen every video before hosting it, and I was listening to it. It doesn't sound loud at all, Borla cat-back would be near the same sound, I swear. Magnapacks would be even louder.

Not to mention adding LT headers and/or offroad x-pipe.

My brother had an '03 Mustang GT with BBK LTs and X-Pipe...he tried Flowmaster one-chambers (way too raspy), Flowmaster 40 series (not loud enough), and the Borlas were just right. Virtually no rasp and it just sounded mean/throaty/deep/loud.

Keep in mind... pre 05s(99-04)...the borla's were quiet..until the 'stinger' mufflers hit... or now called 'S-TYPE'

That is the type of muffler that is on the 05, the coffee can sized muffler...not the old style 'quiet borla' (that looked like a muffler)

I met up with Adrenalin on the weekend..and we compared our exhausts side by side...
I have Borla, he has Magnapacks....

Borla are LOUDER than magnapacks...especially at WOT

So you guys are saying that if I get the Borlas, I will sound like that, maybe even louder?

Brandon, you really don't think those are loud? Is it just the deepness, then, that i am hearing? My ears hurt when hes at the end of my street in low RPMS...will Borla do this?
