Since we are so fortunate enough to have emission inspections in Pittsburgh, would I have to remove the CAI and reflash the car back to stock before having the inspections done. I don't know the inspectors, so I can't ask for any favors or anything like that.

I don't have the mods yet, but I am thinking for the future.

That's going to vary by State, they're all different. Heck, even here in Arizona I really have no idea when or if I'll get an emissions inspection.

Once upon a time everybody here would have to get one every year no matter what. Much like California. In the past 10 years or so they've lightened up a lot particurlarly on newer cars. My 2000 Nissan P/U has never had one. The 98 Civic we sold earlier this year had 1 in the six years we had it.

As far as the inspection itself you may be alright as long as it passes the sniffer and you haven't removed any other equipment such as the cats, egr valve....etc.

IMO removing the HC trap probably won't trigger anything either. If I read the info about the HC trap correctly it affects evaporative emissions NOT tailpipe emissions. and since this is an item that can't be seen with a visual inspection, that may be alright. I've never seen the state-run smog centers here do anything but a visual, they've neve taken anything apart to inspect further.

it should be good even with the CAI i would imagine. no need to reflash it. as far as "knowing the inspectors", if you think it may be a problem, try to find a shop that does a lot of auto work, not just oil changes and inspections, some sort of a performance shop. they may be more inclined to be lenient (sp?) if for some reason you were to miss the mark by a bit.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I've never heard of anyone failing emissions because of a cai. It's simply a better air filter, so you should be fine.

I was told that a reflash will not be needed for emissions check because the "loop" that's checked isn't the same "loop" that's altered when the flash takes place?? YadaYadaYada,....etc. Anyway, my tuner says nope!
