Yes there are electric water pumps but honestly you only need it for boosted and f/I setups. The factory water pump provides a great water flow for what it is designed to do. Unless you are running boosted applications you won't benefit from having one.

Not to mention the elimination of the water pump pulley will now need a shorter accessory belt. Have fun looking for that in a pinch.

A MEZIERE electric water pump has an idler pulley so you still use the OE belt and route it the same.

But with nominal gain at a steep price it would be more beneficial to put the money toward something better for more grip or acceleration. What's the weight on one of these? Potentially lighter than stock?

Right. I think all these little tricks (underdrive pulleys, alum shaft, etc.) are best suited for a guy that wants to stay NA. If you're going supercharged, why bother.

Well that's my goal in a way too I want to build a bolt on beast and leave option open to supercharge later on so I want to squeeze out every pony possible .. I understand the prices are high for very little hp but it will be cool to beat someone at the track and say yea im not even supercharged

I would stick with the more reliable OE pump.

Have there been any reports of a Meriere WP failures? I've not seen one yet. I'm still on the fence about electric WP's trying to decide if I can justify spending the money on one.

how much do they cost? The nice thing about the is you can run it even while the car is turned off. like at the track to help the engine cool off a little more than it normally would.

Deysha, that link does not seem to work?

From what I hear this is a pretty good low cost mod, frees up about 10 HP and improves MPG, not bad for $200-300
