Dspec owners, dust cap question

I just got my Dspecs. Looking at the caps that you put on top to prevent debris from getting it. The shocks have actual screw on caps. The fronts got these flimsy rubber things that say tokico, and thay barely stay on.

Is this what they send them with? Or should I gave gotten a screw on cap for the struts also?

Thanks

From what I gathered, you were supposed to pull the metal piece out of the stock cap and transfer that to the new cap. I didn't do that with one side, but once I realized it, I did it to the other side.

My struts have a metal part that the red rubber button is attached to. Looks like a chrome valve stem cap.

hmm, now Im confused. No caps on the stock strut top.

And that red button you speak of, thats what I was saying is the flimsee little rubber cover that says tokico on it that doesnt stay over the lip to cover the adj hole.

After I think about it, theres no threads on the struts to screw a cap on it like the shocks have.
One of the crappy thin red covers stays on, the other just flops right off with just a little movement.
Guaranteed not to stay on while driving.

I would give Tokico a call. I have them and no issues with being flimsy. I'm sure they will ship you out a new set no issues.

Will do. It was not on the strut when I took them out of the box. It was buried under the foam liner on the bottom of the box. I think it got distorted or something

These rubber things are a true waste of time. Put some grease into it and that will prevent debris getting into it.

This is how I've done it and it works. Surely, once you adjusted the struts, you'll have to grease it again.

I just used some clear RTV to glue the buttons onto the caps... I had the same issue, though.

Mine is just like the above it screws on and off. I actually ripped the red portion off on mine by mistake thinking that was the cap also.

Huh! I got mine last week and they came with the stainless steel type screw on caps on both the rear shocks and the front struts(I took the cap off the one on the left)...

Thats interesting. Looks nothing like taco bills pic. Mine look like taco bills.
I don't see any hole in that shaft on the one with the cap removed. Did you indeed get Dspecs?

Zoom in closer, closer, clllooosser, there (in my previous post)... the hole is filled with clear grease. Says Tokico DSpecs on the strut and shock labels (see below) and on the Tokico box they came in as well as all of the instructions included.

They must have changed the Front strut caps then. The red part on the picture Bill posted is just a soft rubber piece I mistakenly tore them off.
