Drag Wheel ?

After hour of search i'm totaly confused. Usualy i bring my car to a dealer and say "do this" i'm not a mechanic at all. But i'm drag racing. Next year i want to have good tire. This year i was totaly desesperate when i saw other stang doing good time with slick when i was spinning hard with my street tire. No more for next year !!!

But if you say slick you say new wheel. It seems that only drag radial will fit on my spare original gt wheel, so i'm searching for wheel.

I saw thousand of wheel, and the few site that offer the car selection let me with a selection of 0 wheel .

So what is the exact requirement for a drag wheel for a 2005 GT ? Any link for a set of wheel ? thanks.

Eventually i also want the 2 front skinnies.

So it seems it's 15x8 wheel with a 5x4.50 bolt pattern ? but i'm lost with the offset stuff. but without that i couldn't find a set of wheel.

Hi Christian,

Trying to find proper lightweight wheels for our cars is almost impossible.

The cheapest way is to do like I do and run your factory 17" wheels. The only problem with that is the limited tire selection on 17" wheels

If you're looking for 15" wheels one of the only options is a custom set of Bogart Wheels. To fit 15" bogarts out back you must relocate the swaybar but it's not too big a deal. This way the wheels are completely inside the wheelwells and can fit a tire as wide as a 315 if I'm not mistaken.

Another way is to find a set of Weld XP wheels 8.5-9.5 wide with a 5x4.5" bolt circle with 5.5" of backspace. They MUST be XP's to fit over our brakes.

Some of these options will require you to install longer wheel studs also.

I will wait till the spring to see if I'll go with a set of bogarts. There was a guy in New Jersey last week running 11.7's on 18" drag radials. I may go the same route next year if I get a Big Brake Kit on my car.

Best of luck,

Peter

The simple soltuion would be to pick up 2 17x8 Stock Bullitts and throw some MT DRs on them.

Thanks Peter.

I agree that stock rim + dr is the cheaper and easiest way.

But in term of weight and performance it's not the best.

So XP (draglite or prostar) are the graal ?

and a draglite 15x8 5x4.5 with 5.5 backspacing like those one don't fit :
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=220046282063

?

What a pain ! And there is no intelligent shop to make wheel that fit a 2005 ?!! with all that 2005 drag racing and begging for a correct wheel. that's insane.

sure bogart has awesomw wheels that fit. also weld makes the magnum and aluminstar in 17" skinny and 17x9 for the rear. they also have released a special version of the draglite wheel in 17" for our cars. hoosier makes the skinny 17" tire in case your looking. you could buy a pair of the hoosier 17" skinny ties and mount them on a pair of 05-up spare tire rims. thye are alumiinum and very light 17x4 wheels. i saw a mach1 at the track yesterday that had this setup.
i love my bogarts!!

LOL...No sh*t...that's the problem with not having enough companies competing for this corner of the market...we get raped. Hopefully by next season some companies will step up and start driving the prices down. Until then, stockers it is...

Man, he's adding stuff to his site too fast to keep up with. Just last week I ordered two take-off wheels for the track and now I need to order the ET Streets. Oh well...I got free shipping on them so it's good.

Holeshot wheels have also released a set of 15" ultralite drag wheels for our cars. I'm not sure about pricing and availability but they are a good company with awesome wheels. Give them a call. www.holeshotwheels.com.

You missed it the same way I did... He just added it.

Those tires go for $174(ea) + shipping from Summit, so his prices are good.

I contact them to have a quote on a holestar

Holepro

and holepro2

Here are the response.

You should be able to fit our 15x8 wheel (with a spacer to clear the caliper) on your '05 Mustang,This should fit without relocating the swaybar.

What do you think ?
I'm not a mechanic at all but i don't like the word SHOULD with a fitment response.
Actually the price is good for me, and the look also. Wich i could have them in blue to match my car !!!

What was the price quote? And I'm also not liking having to use a spacer...

310$ for each rear wheel. 18x8, without option.

a spacer is not my major concern, as it looks cool. But i want to be sure it will fit.
