What you don't get is the line lock only locks the front brakes.

I was refering to the post above it. Im trying to figure out why the guy thinks that line locks will benefit a higherstall torque coverter, other than the obvious fact of heating the tires up easier.

So why could you not use a line lock with a torque converter???
I am afraid i have thought about your question and don't quite get it either.
Our cars have torque converters from the factory, just not as hard core as a TCI.

But I am quite sure some of the big boys bang against their TC by using a line lock to help preload the drivetrain??
Am I wrong?

If I am not mistaken, many NHRA'ers use a launch controller. Effectively locking the front wheels while allowing them to max the drivetrain before the car moves an inch.

professional racers use a trans-brake to pre-load the drivetrain and then release it. Line locks are for heating the tires. If you used them at the line you would have no brakes on the rear wheels. So instead of pre-loading you would be sitting with front brakes locked and spinning the rears waiting for the green.
TCI converter is a little better than stock for launching these autos. The problem with them is they are just made from the stock OEM comnverters. You should really buy a better converter. There are better converters from Performance Automatic and Level 10 out there.
