I know that this is probably a stupid question, but I can't figure out how to disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.

Will someone give me a brief description of how to do this and what if any tools I need? I installed a K&N CAI but I didn't disconnect the battery b/c I couldn't figure it out.

I would appreciate any comments and help.

Well, I just used an 8mm socket and loosened that nut thingie. I then lifted the negative battery cable off the battery terminal.

You'll need to jack up the right rear tire in order to remove the tension off of the post spring. It'll make removing that 8mm nut much easier.

I also found that removing the hood made it easier.

I'll bet you use an engine hoist to pull the clamp up. Right.
Actually... I'm ashamed to admit that I didn't do it myself... I took it to a shop.

I have disconnected the neg. terminal on other cars, but I can't figure out this one.

I must be doing something wrong w/ this one b/c it won't come off.

Just bustin your chops man...after you loosen that 8mm, you'll have to pry it up from both sides. You just have to work it off. You won't get it by prying it up on one side.

Man I feel like an idiot. I didn't realize that I was supposed to pull up on the piece. I thought that the part conncecting to the terminal was two separate pieces so I was trying to separate the pieces.

Thanks guys and sorry for the idiotic post. I am just learning how to do minor things to cars. I have never really gotten under the hood of one before now.
