but how much different is the AMSOIL? is it worth going to all the extra trouble for if i cant find it easily?

If you can't get The Amsoil, Mobil 1 would be your next best choice.

Do it the same way. Fill it with just the Mobil 1 and see if you get any chatter with low speed turns. If you do then add the friction modifyer.
