DiabloSport Predator Performance tune stinks!
So anyway... i just picked up the diablosport predator tuner for my 05 and went through all the steps and installed the boxed performance tune... let me give you all some background though - i had my car dyno'd earlier in the year with just a magnapak catback and made 277/296 to the wheels... however, i was running real lean with the factory tune. Anyway, my first pull after the predator, i pulled 269/296 and was furious... so we looked at the graph and i was running really rich. so we yanked out the HC trap and redyno'd and i pulled 281/311. Although this is an improvement.. its a mere 4hp and 15 tq... something is up with the boxed tune and i am unhappy to say the least... ill post dyno charts if everyone wants to see them.
Also, i think the dablo pulls timing at around 5200 because while my peak horsepower was better, it fell earlier.

I don't think you can expect massive amount of horsepower/torque with the performance tune alone. An intake and a custom tune is where you are going to find the most horsepower and torque.
I just installed my C&L intake and Predator tune this afternoon and I can personally vouch for its performance increases.

Same here.Untill you at the least install a CAI kit I wouldnt bother getting a programer. My predator works just fine, was a little shaky in the beginning but once i worked some small bugs out, it was fine and tonight i made my final adjustments on the Dyno with it.
Well, I was impressed with mine, but I certainly felt the biggest difference after I tooled around with it. I advanced the timing 2% in both rpm ranges and leaned it out a bit, and it's been working fine for me. No knocks, no pings, no errors.
Haven't made any intake changes other than removing the HC Trap and having a K&N filter. When I do I'm getting a canned tune from DTP, seems the JLT and DTP combo is working real well for people.
Once I completely change the exhaust system (headers, high-flow cats, and x-pipe) then I'll get a custom tune done at a local shop. Don't see the point in doing any before significant changes on both sides of the air equation. (intake and exhaust)

Eric,
I would consider trying a different dyno facility because a couple of items just don't pass the "logical" test.
1. You say yours was running very lean with the factory tune yet every other dyno run of a stock '05 has shown they run dead rich from the factory. Why was yours so different? And no, aftermarket mufflers will not make that big a difference.
2. In no way, shape or form do you gain 12 hp and 15 ft-lbs of torque just by pulling the HC trap.
It sounds to me like there might be a calibration problem with the dyno or a/f ratio meter.
The Boss Hog . . . . . . . just my opinion
dunno... dont u think the removal of the HC trap and filter could lean the car out a bit just to get my numbers back up? LG is pretty well known in the LS1 world... theyre dyno seemed to be spot on... but, i understand what ur saying.
also, just looked at my baseline air/fuel and i was runnign 11.6, so i was rich, when i removed the air filter and hc trap tho, i went to 12.8 which is where i wanted to be, this of course is with the tune. could be weather issues or heating issues also

The Boss Hog
i was looking at the charts and confused myself initially, my mistake. i apologize. and the removal of the airfilter had very little effect on anything... i gained 1hp and my air fuel didnt change at all...
I don't think dynos are accurate enough to be able to measure a 1hp increase. Even if you're taking an average across several pulls, you can't really say that you gained (or lost) 1hp.
Just my 2 cents for what they're worth...
Just my 2 cents for what they're worth...
I had a base dyno of 265... It was running real rich with the factory tune..
I just installed the C&L CAI with thier tune and put on some Bassani Axel Backs....
Let me say that this helped it a lot, not the bassani but the C&L with thier tune..
in the next week i will be putting on the Bassani X-pipe with thier comp cats..Then i will be getting a dyno tune from one of the best in socal...
i will post the before and after.....

Are you by any chance going to SoCal Diablo? I had really great results when I
purchased a chip for my '99 Cobra from them.
