D1SC ProCharger install not fun
So last night I started work on installing my D1SC and it isn't the easiest install in the world. Myself and one of my friends were doing the install. In looking at pictures of a P1SC-1 kit the kit looks like it fits so easily in the engine bay, well the D1 kit I have really takes up a lot of the room in the engine bay. The new coolant tank that comes with the kit is an extreme pain in the butt. We got everything hooked up except going back to fix a few minor things and I loaded the tune provided by CR @ Tillman and the car fired right up. Heard the blower for a split second before my buddy told me to shut it off because the blower belt had jumped a rib. Tonight I'll be putting some spacers behind the blower pullley to attempt to line it up better. Once that's done should be up an running. We'll see how tonight goes.

I think it was a good sign that the car started so we'll see how everything else goes this evening. I don't like the idea of having to use a spacer with the pulley but that's what has to be done.

I'd love to see what turns out and how you like the blower. I had a P1-SC on my 2000 GT and it was a ROYAL PITA to install, work on or move. But BOY did it sound sick.

It sounded pretty bada$$ on initial fire up for a second last night. I'll be posting a video, especially since the new tune has a lowered idle RPM and hopefully you'll be able to hear my cams lope more.

Can't wait to here it with the cams! Congrats on the supercharger.

Well the install is finished. Two days of really wrenching it out like that has not been fun. Only thing now is to get my tune fine tuned a little with the help of CR. Ran into some issues last night after I got finished and took it for an initial drive to see how many codes I could get it to throw, well it threw po113 and then the little friendly wrench came on. Took it back to the house and got on the phone with CR to see if he could help a little. We figured it out when we looked at some wiring we had to do. So made some adjustments and started the car back up. It did not want to idle at all and the throttle response wasn't really there. However after tapping the throttle a few times the car revved a little and then idled perfect. The cams sound so sick at a lower RPM. So round 2 on the test drive and the car was really really really bogging down. Couldn't really get it to idle in 1st when trying to accelerate. Pulled back in the drive way and once again called CR. Please note that this was around 11 p.m. central time and 12 a.m. eastern time. That's what I call someone who cares about their customers. Well after a couple of attempts finally got it to throw a lean code and we determined that the tune I have more than likely wasn't adjusted for the cams and that we're going to have to adjust for them. CR is going to be calling SCT today to try and get things worked out and get back with me. Hope to have the car running tonight or tomorrow, but I'm in no real hurry to hurt it. Hopefully I'll have some pics and videos for you guys soon.

Definitely sounds like your MAF transfer function values need to be raised significantly to get it driveable. This is probably 95 percent of the problem. Once it is driveable, the best thing to do is to datalog your STFT / LTFT (both banks) to tweak it even further.
Also, I need to be enlightened about your cams. I don't know much about these modular motors but in the old days, cam lope signifies a good amount of overlap. And overlap is NOT what you want on a super/turbocharged engine. Can you explain please?

Willie, I'm not the best person to answer your cam question, however I've surrounded myself with people who know way more about cam/blower combinations and whereas the stage 4 comp cams aren't the most ideal blower cams they have already proven to make good power on PSIPerformance's car with a Novi 2200. I spoke with them and they told me I'd be good to go. The separation on these cams isn't that bad.
Hey CR will you be able to send me anything today or will it not be till tomorrow before I get anything.

Thanks for the cam info. I suppose I could always call Comp Cams and ask them about their Stage IV cams. On a similar note, I've always had custom grinds made by Cam Motion. They made one for my twin turbo IROC-Z and also for the same car when I was running a D1SC on it...

We're raising the MAF quite a bit today.
CR,
Maybe I can assist. I PM'd William about my similar experience. Maybe the fact that my experience sounds extremely similar, here's are the constants I used that fixed the problem. The constants on the left caused my Whippled '05 to run extremely lean, not have any throttle response for the first minute or two of runtime and when closed loop was attained, it would run but set lean codes (both banks) and would eventually go into limp-home mode. The constants on the right fixed the problem completely. I then datalogged and needed to increase these values another 12 percent.
