Cop Wheels?
Does anyone run cop wheels (steelies) in the winter? I think getting a set of Crown Vic (if they fit) wheels would be a good (and cheap) alternative to ruining the factory mags.
Thanks!

Last winter I ran a set of 2000 Cobra R rims with Dunlop Wintersport M3 tires, but this winter, I have the ultimate solution... Jackstands!!
Seriously, take a look at the wheel/tire combos available from Tire Rack and Discount Tire, you may find that there are some "cheap enough" wheels out there that still look good and definately fit. I got the "R" rims on closeout for around $95 a piece. If you want the tires, PM me!

The S197 GT wheels are a direct-fit for 2003-up Crown Vics, but you will probably need 17" Crown Vic steel wheels to clear the GT brakes. I am not sure if the offset is going to be compatible. IIRC 2006-up Police Cars use 17" wheels.

One trick is to coat the wheels in silicone spray, which should insulate it. At least thats what i've heard. When I still lived in NY i never had a car that was worth trying it on and now in VA the roads aren't salted more than a week or two a year.

Well, I'll take a look at the vic wheels, stock mustang GT wheels are 17x8," but I dunno what the bolt circle specs are. If I knew that, I could probably wrangle a set. Anyone know what the specifications are on the bolt circle?
