I wanted a manual (been driving manual for 25 years) but the V6 wasn't available with one. I came really close to having one ordered but just didn't want to wait. This automatic rocks. Yeah there is a 'fun' element missing, I don't feel quite as physically connected with the car as manual. Honestly, don't knock it till you've tried an 05 automatic! They are NOT like most automatics.

All colors on a Mustang are great. That's why they are all selling out right now. Jessica is right....again.

Funny, my husbands name is John, and he has learned the fine art of "Yes Dear". LMAO

Just last night, on the freeway. This Mineral Grey V6 slides up alongside us. It had a sport package, and the stripe looked black cuz of it reflecting off my car, and being night time. As the guy guns it and weaves through traffic (we werent impressed!) hubby says, "It had a white stripe on it" and I said, "No, it was black. Mingeral Grey V6, black sport package." He says, "youre probably right, but it looked white to me." Then we get next to it again, and low and behold, it wasnt black. But, it wasnt white either, LMAO! He just doesnt argue until he has physical proof he is right, which is not often.

I was married for 8 years so I had it down too. It never really meant I agreed.

Back to topic.......I hear the automatics are smooth and still fast so it's to each their own. There's good arguments either way. See, basically I just said "Yes Dear". Mad skills!!!

John, props! LOL

Yes, I also hear the autos are very responsive, and almost as much fun to drive. I also KNOW they are MORE fun to drive when youre in bumper to bumper traffic.

Yeah, you know my pain. Bay area traffic??? Never again. I had a manual and after the 10 mile trip from Oakland to Berkley became an hour long commute I got an auto, never looked back. Good on you for getting an automatic!!!

I'm 16 soon to be 17 and if my dad was getting an auto 05 I would try to convince him to get a manual and the color combo I want, but it would be his car and it's up to him. I would be happy as long as could drive it every once in a while.

oh, and I know everything too

Donna, I am not sure he will survive his Sophmore year, let alone graduate... we hang on to hope, ya know?

John, I dont have an automatic, I just dont like em personally. Nothing wrong with em. Just being the daughter of a stock racer, I have thing for the feel of the clutch engaging, and throwing it into its gears. Nothing like moving through the gears smoothly, on an open road with this kind of vehicle. Perfect dance of car and driver, each anticipating the others next move.

Yeah but you understand there is nothing wrong with an automatic if the owner wants one. If I lived in BFE and had plenty of wide open roads, I'd have a manual in a heartbeat. I just know I'm going to retire in San Antonio Texas so I'm not taking my chances even though they don't have a big traffic problem. I might change my mind when I get back there. Right now I have a 65 mile round trip commute each day and it's probably one of the worst outside of the bay area I've dealt with. :notnice:

OK, Juice heres my answers to your questions:

Do your kids like the Mustang?
Did they try to influence your color and option choices?
Will they ever get to drive it?

1> My kids love Mustangs. (Must of been all the mustangs I have owned since there birth, but I'm not Bias )
2>No influence what so ever. I have always owned a red mustang. Thats the only color they come in!
3>Will they ever drive it? Lets just say they will have to pri-my cold dead fingers from the steering wheel first.

Exactly why I ordered an automatic! I've got a Bay Area bridge commute myself. My last four vehicles were sticks and I feel I've "been there and done that".

Wow. I had no idea this would foster so many debates and comments. Actually, I have owned 7 manual GT Mustangs, and after taking a couple of trips into Chicago and visiting folks in New Jersey, I decided that the convenience of the Auto was for me. WHat sealed it was a test drive in an Automatic GT. It always felt in the righr gear and shifted so smooth, not like the old AODs.

Actually, my daughter is almost as much a Mustang fanatic as me. Her first toy car (at 9 months old) was a plastic SVO Mustang. But when it came right down to it, the choices were all mine.

Don't worry about it dude. The Auto is great.. What we have is more BASELESS opinion and judgment based off of "caveman perception" rather than fact. Anyway, the Mustang is not your typical "sports car" in the same sense as Lambo or Ferrari. Besides, is it fact or fiction that real REAL RACE CARS/DRAG Cars are Autos or clutchless manual/auto? Is it just me or is the Auto :vs: Stick conversation getting pretty old. Buy what makes you happy!

a word from juice's 17 year old.....
sonic blues not any girlier than any color! i have to agree with holderca1's comment about boys in blue and girls in pink. my pop's choices aren't influenced by me, he just answers to my mother. i guess i'll have to deal with the loss of the physical connection between myself and the stang....
