Well, at least you found the problem. It is strange that those codes can show up meaning a defective alternator, when they are really camshaft position sensor fault codes. You would think a defective alternator would throw a different code entirely.

Hope that fixes your problem. Who would have ever guessed that would do that. Not me. Snap a pic of that purdy blue alternator okay?

It's pretty interesting..... if you read the TSB, when the alternator begins to fail, it emits a tone that the camshaft position sensor is sensitive to, therefore causing it to send the error code. The voltage and amperage from the alternator remain fairly constant, it's just when it starts emitting the tone that ususally it is a for sure sign of failure- which at that point voltage and amperage plummit and you can be stranded somewhere pretty easily when that happens. Like I said, it's a big enough problem that Ford released the TSB for '05s & '06s.

Sure..... it's a different shade of blue than my cam covers, but you can hardly see the thing anyway because of my Saleen Extreme inlet pipe sits right over it.

New sensor ordered, will be here tomorrow. Looks like both left and right (A and B) sides are the same..... "A" is the passenger side so I will start there.

The 200A alternator will rob you of more horsepower.

I installed it last week, I'll try to get some pix today or tomorrow.

Think so? Why, because it takes more to spin the pulley? I bet you when I dyno it again it still pulls 450/450.....

No hammer needed here, thank you.

Last night, I pulled both left and right side cam position sensors and swapped them, thinking that my code would move from "A" bank to "B". Guess what- NO CODES. Started and drove the car around town for 20 minutes, cold start and immediate drive to work this morning, and still no code. Gotta love little problems such as this.

They may have just rewound the alternator to make it produce up to 200A, or they could have used more iron in the armature/rotor assembly which makes it heavier and requires more power to spin.

Hey Richard,
STD is the king of avatar changes, like 3 times a day!! As his own signature says...most of his mods are laying on the garage floor awaiting installation. He is a good egg and I am sure he can tell you where those pullies come from. I owe him a couple of jabs is why I made this post.
