Clean Fiberglass Enclosure Install

Got my new sub enclosure the other day from Rob @ Anarchy Customs. The guy is on the level and does great work, I highly recommend him. A real bargan at only $300

So with no further jibberish, here it is from start to finish:

The sub amp is an Alpine V12 M500 and the sub woofer is an Alpine Type R at 1500 watts.
The area around the sub was painted Screaming Yellow D6. Now I can have the trunk open at car shows (nobody ever looks at the back of the cars anyway)

This is as clean as it gets. Looks like it could have come from the factory like this.

Nice. I'd suggest a bigger amp in the future, unless you're running stock highs. It blends really nicely.

Thanks.

Yeah, Rob is a real artist. Does a pretty fair paint job too. No runs, no drips and no errors.

This is the first sub I've ever had in a car. I dont plan on going to a bigger Sub Amp. The MRD-M500 is enough for my old ears.

Tuning the system was a lot of fun, really enjoyed it. Subs are fun

You don't realize just how much music you are missing until you add a sub. Now, go do a proper home theater and you'll become maniacal. When I was younger, I had as many as 8 15's and several thousand watts. Now, I use a single 12 with about 650, and I keep it turned down. I decided there is bass in music, not vice versa.

How is this post "Performance And Tech"?

Why is this post in the tech section? Shouldn't it be with the other audio stuff?

Great setup!

I have one question... are you losing any trunk space? Where does that grey partition (with the sub enclosure attached to it) go? Does it go right where the trunk begins to slope upwards? I have the Scosche "custom fit" enclosure, but I would like to change to a rear-facing setup for increased bass efficiency.

The only trunk space I'm loosing is the shelf area right behind the back seat. My Alpine MRD M500 is mounted to the back of the back seat. This is cool, any adjustments that I may want to make to the amp can be made just by letting the back seat down and doing it inside the car. I can hear the changes as they are made. (this was Rob's idea)

The enclosure attaches to the sub........see picture of sub and front piece on the ground. The front piece installs in the trunk just as you see it.
The "T" is the top.

The front piece of the enclosure is right at where the back of the trunk begins to slope up to the shelf.

Wow, that sounds awesome. Would you happen to know how much clearance there is between the back of your actual subwoofer and the other side of the box? How about between the back of the box and the seats? I'm asking because I have an Alpine Type-X 12" which is about 2" deeper than your Type-R.

But wow, looks great & basically no wasted space! I want to throw some money at this guy too, where is he located?

Here are a couple of email replies from Rob: See the Word Doc.

I dont think one can be built that deep and still fit in the space.

He can build an enclosure for a Sub just tell him how many Cubic feet you need. You will have to email him (see email address in my first post. Or you can call him at 619-739-3475 he is in Chula Vista, CA.

I had a few questions for him, since I have never had a sub in a car...........until now. Man, I like that sound

Oh yeah, the $300 he charges includes shipping.
