I have worn through a set of HP+ and while they have stopped the car with utmost haste.. I don't want to drop the cash on another set just yet.

Who makes a decent replacment pad?

Kragen has some ceramic pads for 45$ front and 45ish for the back.

I think just hte fronts need replaced but i would like a pad that is better than stock but will last a while.


these pads lasted a while on the street and one trip to the track

one guy told me he gets 4 trips to the track on a set, but only using them for the track.

EBC makes nice pads and they have a OEM equiv that is very inexpensive.

Jake, how are your rotors? I heard the Hawk pads were hard on the rotors.

It depends on what Hawk pads you go with. The "F" compound, aka HPS Compound is not harsh on rotors, and great for the street, daily driven cars, with slotted or drilled rotors.

what do you have in the way of brake pads?

I know hps are the hawk street pad and eBC has a green street compound... other than that i have no clue.

I myself do not like the HAWK pads I currently run them on my F-150 and they squeal and leave tons of brake dust, I am just waiting for them to wear out a little more before replacing. I have a brand new set of EBC rotors and pads waiting to go on as I know many people running them and they all rave about them. For the Mustang however I think the EBC Red pads are the correct upgrade pad.

I still like pbr metal master pads to a great degree. They work pretty well. Just be sure to use them front and rear. I have had problems just using them up front.

I have had no noise issues with the HPS's.

I carry EBC Green, which I'm not a fan of.

We do Axxis pads, which are much nicer.

Raybestos has a set of pad's that are like 45-50 bucks that are actually nicer than some of the aftermarket companies. I think they're a Ferro Carbon like the HPS's. I can get you details during the business day tomorrow.

Hey CR... Why are you not a fan of the EBC's? I've never used them but starting to look around at some. Be interesting to hear your likes and dislikes between those and the Hawks...

I put the EBC Green Stuff on my wife's Stratus R/T along with slotted/dimpled rotors. I'd read they were noisy, but I've yet to hear them squeal and they've been on almost a year. Stopping power is really good on her car (better than my Mustang) but they are way dusty...

I've have a buddy that drives a S2000... he installed the Green Stuff pad and loves them. He said stopping power was improved a great deal. I'll have to ask, but he's never mentioned brake dust problems. But then again, he rarely drives it. Especially this time of year.

I have ran the Ferro Carbon Hawk pads before on my 96 Cobra. They worked good when heated up (track) however, for the street they were noisey and dusty. Not sure if the new HPS are different or any better.

The Redstuff Pads are supose to have less dust.
