Charge Motion Control Plates

Is this upgrade worth the almost $300 price tag?
http://www.americanmuscle.com/steeda...on-plates.html

I have an 06 gt with an auto trans and so far I have Ford Racing CAI, SCT power flash tuner, BBK TB, and Pypes pype bomb exhaust. What does everyone think. Im 20 YO and just bought my first mustang and im not sure what mods are worth the money. I also like to install everything myself to save some $$. I know in the future it wont always be possible though. And what about underdrive pulleys? Worth the cash?

The delete plates is a great mod to make. Those are the billet plates which are the high dollar ones. If you can find a set of the cast aluminum plates they are half of that price. There is really no advantage to the billet plates.

If you don't mind cannibalizing your old set of plates you can make them yourself by removing the butterflies and filling the holes with some high temp epoxy (get the stuff that's like a putty).

Keep in mind you'll need a new tune, and this will hurt your mpg slightly.

Yeah I was thinking about this mod as well.....are these plates really worthwhile for a power upgrade? Where can you buy the cheaper ones?

Steeda UDP seem to give a pretty consistent 9 to 10 HP at the wheels according to many users who have dynoed their cars. Therefore, this is definitely worth it IMO. CJ Pony Parts is having their gift card sale right now......you may want to try and capitalize.

U/D pulleys should equal 8-10hp. Not bad gain for a couple hundred bucks.

I haven't done it, but it looks to me like you drill out the rivets and remove the butterfly's from the shaft, remove the motor assempbly at the end (back), then pull the shaft out, finally plug the holes between each port where the shaft was.

Since the 09 4.6 wasn't removable from the intake like previous years, I think it was Steeda that makes a plug kit.

Also, you can see why so many of us use oil separators with Ford's (non-Valved) PCV tube. This pic was like 13000 miles and already had carbon coating from the blow-by gases.

Yes on the UDP's, you get about 8-10 hp and about 1-2 mpg gain.

I got them... The combination will make a great mod for under $500.

Where is the best place to buy the CMDP's? How many HP are they good for?

You hear a lot about the Steeda UDPs giving a good gain, but not too many guys talk about the CMDP's.

I bought mine from a seller in another forum. They pop up from time to time in various mustang forums.

Someone told me you lose low end with these.
And that is a major reason why you don't get the new intake manifolds without big mods.

True or Bull****?

When they first came out you did lose low end due to the tuners having to adjust more, as time passed everyone learned how to make the plates work perfect, some even gain low end.
so no low end loss WITH A GOOD TUNE.

I got the Steeda plates, underdrive pullys, and a Brenspeed tune. The only thing I lost was the 3500 RPM surge that the butterflies caused. Nothing but a strong linier pull to my shift point. It's an auto. the Expensive ones have larger bores and match the heads better. Either set you get will eliminate upper RPM intake turbulance.
