Change to Synthetic Oil

How many miles should you wait on a new GT till you go to the full synthetic oil like Moble 1

I had exactly 5428 miles on it when I switched to Mobil 1.

Just make sure you buy either the Motorcraft or the Mobil 1 filter.

Ask a question like that, and you are bound to get a million different answers!

I think most people would agree that it's best to wait until you have a couple thousand miles on it before switching, just in case the Boogiemen are right about there being a break-in issue when using Mobil 1. Strange thing is that Porsche and many others use Mobil 1 right from the factory.

This is what I did, but you will definitely get several different answers.
I changed my oil the first time @276 miles, but I used the Motorcraft Synthetic blend and Motorcraft Filter. I am sold on waiting until at least 1k miles are on the car before switching to synthetic. Is it necessary, probably not, but I did it anyway. Better safe than sorry.
The next change was at 1,000 and at this time I changed to Mobil1 Full Synthetic Oil & Filter. Mobil1 will be the only oil from this point on to hit the inside of my engine.

On the 5.4 2V V8, I changed out the factory fill 5W-20 for Mobil 1 synthetic 5W-30 after the first 1,000 miles was up. Since then, it has used Mobil 1 5W-30 or German Castrol 0W-30.

Just run the car till your comfortable calling it "broken in" and then change it and putin what you want.

I also changed to Royal Purple at about 1000 miles. By the way, saw a recent episode of Overhauling and they were putting in Royal Purple in the big chevy crate engine....Just some food for thought.

I've heard that you should wait until 5000 miles before switching to full synthetic.

Wow! If that were true, I wouldn't be able to run Mobil 1 until the year 2013!

Mostly yes, but not every weekend. I know, I'm .

I did however take it out on some nice cruises for the past 2 weekends, so I'm getting better!

I switched to Mobil 1 around 5K miles....Just don't let the people at Napa tell you that you have to "flush the system" out. I took that crap back to them after posting the question here. I was told that was only important if you switch it out on a much older vehicle. I use the Ford Racing filter.

Synthetic blend if I am not mistaken. Not Dino Juice but not fully synthetic either.

I'm thinking about going to 5/30 instead of 5/20. The only reason for the 20 I can find is gas mileage.

My Personal Recomendation is to do the First Oil Change at 500 Miles. Then at 3000, Then go to Full Synthetic and Stick with the Same Brand Oil and viscosity. After that Change every 3000. BTMO Thats what I will be doing on my Roushcharged GT/CS.
