CEL on now after off road H pipe install

I was just wondering is it pretty common for the CEL to go on after an off road H pipe install? I thought I heard it was a common thing to happen......I installed my off road H about 10 days ago and was looking for it.....but no CEL on. Now today I see the light on. Maybe there was some kind of delay here??

Does the Diablosport Predator tuner clear it up?

Truly it depends on when you got your Predator and what type you have. Some of the older, or should I say original Predators from around 04-06 may have or they had it in the user options that would do it. Unfortunately when the EPA come down on Diablosport they had to remove this option from the Predator so if it has been updated to a later CROM file then it doesn't have that option anymore. This is the U7140 device.

Now, on some of C&L specific devices, the CL7140, in the later versions when they were updated it was disabled. Yet again though its a real hit and miss type thing. Still in either U or CL 7140's you wont have the option to disable it as a user anymore because of the EPA.

Now it could be that you dont drive it that often or your sensors could have been getting some age on them and they haven't reported enough outside the normal parameters to tell the pcm to enable the CEL. It could have a code in it for them and it just hasn't enabled the Light yet as well, this happens quite a bit, either way its on now.lol

Either way I would recommend a custom tune to disable the rear 02's because the pcm doesn't see them reporting the proper information.

If you don't have MIL Eliminators or have the light turned off in the tune yes it will light.

The code that you'll pull will basically tell you that the catalytic converters you don't have are not functioning.

It doesn't however change anything about how your car is running. So if you don't mind having that annoying light on, it's not a huge issue. Of course if something else does go wrong, the light is already on, so you've got no advanced warning in that case.

IF you have it available to you, when you load a tune into the car and it asks if you want to modify the tune select to do so and then look for a selection for rear 02 sensor.
