Me neither, however I've yet to try putting the paper filter back in and then yannking the H-trap.

The H-trap shuffle...

I'm enjoying my mileage right now. Highway mileage 60-80mph 26mpg

My last 500 mile highway road trip with the trap out and K&N netted me 18mpg.

My combined for the week is 22 so far.

I don't know which combo we're on now....he has swapped everything back and forth so much I'm suprised my car doesn't turn tail and run when he gets near her I liked the way it felt and sounded, especially with the new exhaust, but when I only got 10 MPG :notnice: something had to change! Back up to 19-21 in town and 25-26 hwy so I'm happy again.

As for the HC Trap...I'm still debating pulling it. Is it really that bad on gas mileage??

The magazine test i've read said there was an initial gain of 2 hp with trap removal but that peak hp actually dropped.

Wow this is confusing.... :bang:

Did all the reading so I took the HC Trap out on Friday. My MPG went from 15.3 to 16.5 so far. Granted, the car only has 489 miles. Now I don't know if I should put it back or just keep it out.......

Mines out and I am at a steady 20.5 city/highway. I have a K&N filter in too.

I think people should be MORE clear when they post about gains and losses, and others should READ clearly and not jump to conclusions.

After a SCT Tune, tweaked slightly by my dyno chop, on a car WITHOUT the HC trap, ADDING the HC trap back in will cost you 5-7 horsepower (it did for me anyhow).

That's not EVEN the same as saying "remove the SC trap and you will gain 5-7 horsepower", and that's the conclusion that everyone jumps to.

Specifically, my dyno tune was tuned for removal of the HC trap. Just taking it out and not tuning for it isn't guarantee you any gains, and people have seen it drop their mileage and performance.

This stuff isn't rocket science, but it isn't childrens wooden blocks either, folks. If you just try to stack HP gains, you are missing giant clues!

And even if you give your accurate HP gains, it's not going to be the same on another car. I personally don't have access to a dyno shop... it's a hundred miles from me. So, I am just going to keep modding until I'm all done and do a couple dyno runs after everything is in. Hopefully by the end of this year. So all I can do now is speculate.
