Car Chemistry Exhaust Inserts?

Hey all, I've been lurking round for a while and you are from what I've seen very helpfull for questions.

Anyway, I (like many) am in a quest for the perfect sound (to my ears anyway). On that quest I 1st obtained a set of used SLP LM's from someone on this board. They Sounded great, but I found myself wanting more... More volume that is, so I did some reading. A combo ticked my fancy... So I get me some Pyped O/R H pipes, man I was shock when it started up.. sounded good, real good at idle deap with a nice rumble, rumble, rumble. but at any kind of throttle HOLY HELL MONKIES is that set up loud, nothing you can read, no sound clips can prepair you for the awesome amount of noise that this setup produces (its too loud, even for me). I put the Stock mufflers back on and started on a quest to find something to tame the noise this beat makes...

On my quest I started reading the posts about the resonators that everyone is talking about... Now I don't want to cut into the factory pipes anywhere and the DynoMax race mufflers/resonators are too long to place in the straight secion of the O/R H, sooo I started to some searching and stumbled accross

Having never seen them befor nor seen anyone talking about them.. but they got me thinking.

This is something else I ran accross, its a bit more expensive (vs others) and it funny shaped for that part of the car.

What do you guys think? Give it to me straight.
The good, the bad and the Ugly!

Thank
Joe

You are more than welcome to give them a try. I have no clue what kind of chemistry allows you to put three 2 1/2 inch dics into your headers and not think they would be a restriction. Anyways, I have heard a Loudmouth/Off-Road H pipe combo in person. It didn't sound good at all. I suggest spending the $100 on a new set up mufflers. The Stingers and American Thunders sound pretty nice with the Off-Road H. Assuming you can tolerate trumpeting. I should be getting my off-road pipe monday.

Basic physics tells us that a piece of junk like that is going to create a LOT of restriction and turbulance. Looks like gimmick to me. Right up there with the "Turbonator". Junk junk junk.

I have to agree with everyone else. I don't see how in the world that wouldn't be a huge restriction. Sure, it'll be quieter. But I would equate it to stuffing a cork in your tailpipe with a few holes in it.

That CAN'T be good. The whole point of air flow mods is to remove even the slightest restirctions to air flow (like CMCV delete plates, bigger diameter primaries on headers, etc). I don't see anyway this wouldn't hurt performance. Certainly won't help. If you want quieter exhaust, start swappin mufflers.

Don't think those inserts are designed or meant for folks to use who have a full exhaust setup, just those folks who run open headers.

If you need to quiet your ride (for an event or what not) and you run open headers, I'm sure popping one of these in each header is alot easier than bolting up an exhaust system.
