Can I get the Shelby GT500 Shifter

Hi, newbie here: I have spent the last 45 min reading the shifter thread in this forum. Extremely informative. Does anyone know what shifter the Shelby GT500 uses and will it fit my 07' GT/CS? Thanks everyone.

Most likely it wont. The GT 500 uses a 6 speed transmission, you have a 5 speed.

+1 on the GT500 having a 6 speed.

Go with a Pro5.0 or a Steeda shifter.

+2 on the Hurst. It's the same shifter that's in the new Shelby GT (not to be confused with the GT500).

I've heard that the Hurst is very "notchy". In another thread, most of the people seemed to be pretty unhappy with it which surprised me since I was under the impression that Hurst was the best.

hate to break it to you. I've been underneath the shelby, and it is the SAME EXACT identical shifter, BUT with a modified shifter arm that connects at the top of the transmission (its about 10-12* off to the right facing the vehicle) and a more secure shifter connector at the bottom of the shifter

and yes the HURST is the best shifter. Its a great feeling. Notchy feeling come with the STOCK shifter. with the hurst, you have a MORE solid shifter. I love my hurst and wouldn't trade it for any other shifter

The TR-6060 uses twin-braces for the shifter while the TR-3650 uses only a single brace. Both are remote mounted shifters (versus top loader).

"Hurst is the best shifter" huh? Ever tried anything else? I know of atleast 5 people that "loved" the Hurst until they tried a Steeda or Pro5.0 and 4 of the 5 have traded their Hursts for one of the others.

the hurst sucks. so does the B&M. so does the stock. Pro 5.0 is the only way to go. if you like the bling factor of the hurst then get the shift stick from hurst and bolt it onto your pro 5.0 shifter. the hurst is notchy, noisy, rattles and has vibration issues. some dont have the problems but a lot of ppl do.

ive had 4 shifters if you count the stock now.

Stock. Too notchy, didnt liek to shift at WOT, especially the 2-3 shift

B&M: Took a LOOOOOOOOOOONG time to break in but once it did my shifts got quicker and easier. Took half a season of racing to get it there. Shifter creaked and moaned with any movement in the drivetrain. i renamed the ***** and Moan shifter.

Hurst: I only switched to this for the looks. it had a lot of vibration and noise to it. very clunky. I managed to get msot of it to go away but whenever it got cold out the vibration.noise would come back. warm weather it was perfect in the noise department but it still clunked too much for my tastes and WOT shifting was edgy at best. sometimes it would work sometimes it wouldnt

Switched back to the B&M here

Pro 5.0: love everything about it. short shifts, stop bolts, no clunkiness, powershifting is really easy and has no difficulty at all. no added NVH.

FINAL SOLUTION:

i have a pro 5.0 shifter with the Chrome Shift stick and ball from the Hurst Shifter. Looks like a hurst. shifts liek a pro 5.0. best of both worlds.

It won't matter which shifter kit you get, shifting will still be "notchy".

friend of mine has got the steeda one, he originally had the saleen adapter kit, didn't like it, then bought a steeda shifter off ebay. he's not too thrilled with the way it feels now and I've driven the car with each of the kits on the car and I didnt like how they felt. he's actually going to sell his and possibly get the hurst since he drove mine and he loved it.

i mean when you look at it, its a win win situation. everyone is going to have their own opinions on shifter. i was sold on hurst when I felt it in another persons car at a car show. now my friend could of had a defective steeda shifter or something but he had all the pieces he had and it just didn't feel right.

but based upon my reviews and feeling of majority of the shifter, i think the Hurst is hands down the best one.

I can speed shift my stock shifter just fine. WOT 1-2 and 2-3 is pretty smooth. I've never tried it w/ a Pro 5.0 though.
