Cali's Boss50 326" motor build
Cali's Boss50 326" motor build
I have had a couple requests to document my latest build as some of you are interested in doing something similar. I will keep things brief and answer any questions and post any pictures that you guys want. I am shooting for a conservative 650-700rwtq on pump gas/street tune with a fully upgraded BB 76mm kit from Jim @ Turbohorsepower. I have upgraded my stock 5 speed with a 26 spline input shaft and a GT500 twin disc clutch and flywheel. Right now I am breaking in the motor N/A before I put the turbo on. The motor was built and tuned by Adam @ ST Motorsports and consists of the following:
-FRPP Boss50 iron big bore block
-Kellog forged 3.75" stroker crank
-Manley forged H-Beam rods w/ARP 2000 bolts
-Custom Diamond 9.0-1 slugs w/skirt coating
-GT500 oil pump
-JDM CNC'd big valve heads w/Manley Nextec springs & titanium retainers
-Comp stage 3 cams
-GT500 fuel system modified w/dual GT supercar pumps, dual -6 to -8an supply line, power supply upgrade.
-Metco fuel rails
-flow matched 60# injectors
-Meziere H2O
-Steeda UDP
-BBK throttle body
-Turbohorsepower 76mm bb turbo kit
-GT500 twin disc clutch/flywheel
-26 spline input shaft on stock 3650
-No cats and 3" Magnapack system
I am currently running the stock H pipe with cats, stock injectors and stock air box/filter.
This motor pulls as hard N/A as my stock motor with the Saleen SC running 6# of boost!!
I have also hand ported and jet-hot coated my stock exhaust manifolds and port matched my intake manifold to the CMC delete plates.

This is the 3rd boost gauge I have had in this car so I figured I better go with the 30psi just in case.
I am using a Hallman Evolution manuel boost controller with a **** that extends into the cab for easy adjusting. This one has a ceramic ball also.
I also installed an SLP line lock kit and a BMR K-Member while the motor was out.

Hey Ryan,,
I have only one thing to say...

What cubic inch is that new motor? Duh...nevermind. I see it's 326CI. I can't wait for the final results. You are at the upper level of our mod possiblilties. I'm in awe!! You are nothing less than "top shelf"!!

I hope this not to dumb a question, but being in Cali are you worried about smog issues when the time comes? The only thing that is keeping me from going turbo is the fact that I havent found any with a CARB number on them.
Cool, I'm going to use that for my sig!
Congrats, Ryan, that's shaping up to be a REAL beast!! Out of curiosity, what do you figure the motor is doing in N/A trim? Had it dyno'd? Plan to?
Also, your headers are now at home in the engine bay, but with the ORH, I have GOT to get some resonators for the over-axle pipes! Idle sounds awesome. Thanks for the great deal, and the smooth transaction!

Theres a few shops out here that can hook you up but i'm pretty sure you already knew that... As previously stated, SICK BUILD!!!!
Spent a couple hours with Cali today. We installed my UDP's and then went for ride in his car. I have riden in his car before and driven it when it was supercharger. I have to tell you that it is probably as fast N/A as it was with the Saleen. I can't imagine what it will be like once the turbo goes on.
Oh yeah the new line locks were alot of fun too.

Now post some dyno numbers you have us all wondering how much rear wheel horsepower this monster is going to make. You have us all foaming
at the mouth with wallets ready to empty and our right foot twitching.
Thats one sick ride.
****!!!!
I was in Wheatland this past weekend with my new nephew and my son. I was going to call you yesterday on my way home, which would have been when Rich was there!!!
Doh!
Sweet build bro! I'll be coming back up towards the beginning of March, so hopefully we can meet up again and I can check it out in person!
Take it easy bro!

Hey Ryan,
Why 326 cid vs the more prevalent 331 or 347 strokers? I figure if I ever re-build the pushrod motor in my 69 that I would go with a 331 stroker. Maybe it is a modular motor thing? I see 5.0 magazine did a 340 cid buildup from a Boss5.0 block.
Thanks

Except for the turbo! Oh well, some times you just gotta do what ya gotta do LOL. I'll just have to pull the turbo in 2011 for a quick inspection.
