Well I finally went to the track for my very first time, and had a blast regardless of Track not being ideal.
I managed 2 runs with a rain alert in between, then finally the track shutdown shortly after I made my 2nd run. Rain was coming and going, but after my 2nd run it steadied out.

For my first run I lined up with Mach1. I ran
R/T__6.10
60'__2.275
330__6.405
1/8__9.813
MPH_72.38
1000_12.734
1/4__15.187
MPH__92.04

Mach1 ran
R/T__.275
60'__2.003
330__5.469
1/8__8.236
MPH__88.62
1000_10.600
1/4__12.606
MPH__112.49

My 60 ft times are the only thing that lacked. On that run I almost choked at the tree, since I didn't expect it to light up so fast after staging. I basically launched from idle on that run.

On my second run I lined up to a Civic with slicks up front, and the guy was wearing a helmet. I really hated what was about to happen lol.
I ran
R/T__.427
60'__2.433
330__6.554
1/8__9.965
MPH__72.20
1000_12.900
1/4__15.370
MPH__91.34

Civic ran
R/T__.508
60'__2.154
330__6.068
1/8__9.370
MPH__74.96
1000_12.259
1/4__14.760
MPH__89.37

The track felt really slippery, more than the first time. I launched right at 2k, and spinned a little too much, I even spinned to my shift to 2nd, and chirped good at 3rd. I wish I would have had better 60' times, because I know this car had it to dip to 14's.
This was the last Street Legal Event for this track. They are going to remodel and move it to a different lot. It should be open again in April, so I can't wait to go to a track that is well built, and by April everything should be ideal.

Racing at the track is really good fun, I had a great time.

LOL, yeah
In fact was thinking he was going to run 13.99 or faster since I saw he had a helmet and big slicks.
Come on over and show the V6 pride.
I did win the fastest 6 cylinder class, but I had the only 6 cylinder, so competition was myself ROFL.

Yep it's in Fontana. Many many 05 Mustangs, but all were GT's. Cool group of guys.
They ranged from a 12.2, up to a 14.4

Cool man, good times for a near stocker. You know, my best time was my first run. I got caught by surprise by the tree as well.

Yea, for stock those are good times. Don't let that rice rocket get you down, you will catch him the next time.

At least you are out there on the track.

Good first outing regardless... It only gets better... I know I was a nervous wreck the first time... and the second time... LOL! Getting pretty comfortable now...

Man... seems when ever I go to Test & Tune all the 9 second cars are there and I end up running against them! LOL! I would love to be able to line up against cars that are more in my range... LOL

Awesome!!! I bet you had a great time, all told! Too bad about the civic, but you'll get him next time! Have you dyno'd eyt?

Strange that his MPH was higher than yours at 1/8th and less than yours at the 1/4  At least your reaction time was quicker.

Hey, I have a stick too and I was wondering what was the best RPM to launch at. I thought it would be higher than 2K, though. Have you thought about getting a T-LOK?

The civics mph was higher at the 1/8th cuz he got a quicker start with the slicks, then the weight of them slows him down.

Its ok, my first run bone stock was in the 16s lol. Then with just the sct2 was a 14.9 and then with K&N and sct2 was a 14.73. Ive got my gt takeoffs (rims) coming, and thinkin bout gettin the muffler too.

What were your 60' times, I remeber you always saying how they weren't the best, but I think I can hold that title for now lol.
I can't wait for the spring reopening. By then I should have a lsd, 3.73's, and duals with Prochamber crossover. (got quoted for $320 for all exhaust work including my choice of Flowmaster mufflers)
Maybe if I can squezze it by then, some 285's out back.

On my 14.73 run i actually had a 2.149 i think, which was pretty good. Im usually in the 2.2 range, and 2 weeks ago i was in the 2.6 range lol (couldnt drive around the water box).

This past friday i hit a 1.85 60ft time... in the 03 cobra on 315/35-17 nitto 555r's lol (dont ask me my quarter mile time, it needs a clutch :P)

The 2.149 is dandy... First time we took the car to the track the car was CAI, muffler, and tune... Had the big ballon tires and the 4.10 gears.. The best 60' was 2.146 on a 14.9 run...

Best 60' with the Zex is 2.059 on that 13.4 run... just can't break that 2.0... LOL

hmm, this track didn't really have a drive around for the water box. The guy just messily splashed it everywhere lol. People couldn't complain as the track is getting redone.

PS- my buddy recorded both runs. I'll ask to get a copy when I see him on tuesday, then maybe someone can host for me by then.

He had a better 1/8 speed, and overall victory, due to him having slicks, and my 2.433 60' time. Other than that I felt I couldn't have shifted the car any better.
That launch was at 2k rpms but due to track conditions it spun out a little too much, and It kinda bogged a bit after trying to control the spin.
I really had hoped for a clear sunny day just like the whole week had been, because I wanted to try out a few more techniques to improve 60' time for the track. I do think 2k is the sweet spot, just need to play around on how to launch right with that.

Im going to go to the track this weekend if my gt takeoff wheels and tires get here before friday, that way i can test to see if they improve my time at all. With the wider tires and the PHP alternator pulley im hoping for a low 14.49-14.60 run.

As far as launching, ive found that slippin the clutch from 2400-3000rpm gives me the best 60ft times.
