C&L Street Intake & Brenspeed Tunes

Well this is kind of a repeat post because there are so many like this. However, I just wanted to give another positive plug to Brent and his Brenspeed staff. Ordered the C&L Street Intake and the SCT 3 tuner with three of his tunes, 87,89, and 93. Ordered it Monday (of this week), It shipped yesterday and I received it today with ground shipping.

The C&L instructions were good. Only thing that I did different than they recommended was to not use the front washer/rubber washer on the valve cover and use a provided screw. Instead, I popped the captured screw out of the assembly so that there was still a cushion there and to further reduce the risk of cracking the tab off the cover.

Like others say... Its a totally different car now. I don't have any numbers to back anything up, but its just amazing. The throttle response is amazing, the delay is gone.

Thanks Brent! (Doubt that you will read this.. lol)

I can snap some pictures if anyone wants...

-Jason

I've been holding off on a CAI.I thought the new Bullitt CAI would be a good set up but I'm considering that C&L you have instead. That sounds like a better investment along with that tune.

Congrats Jason!
Told you it was the best bang for the buck with these newer Mustangs.

Hope you're running their 93 tune, downside is there's only 2 places left in town now for anything besides Marathons ethenol gas. I've been trying Sunocos 94 last tank or so.

I'll still smoke you if I see you tomorrow morning

I'm thinking it might be some kind of shifter.

MGW makes a great piece.... widely accepted as the best out there but also is the most expensive.

Most people that have the Hurst shifter are happy with it, at a lesser price point and no adjustability compared to the MGW.

Yea, MGW is the way to go. One question I have yet to post, How does the dynamat, foam heat/sound barrier make it all water proof? I just dont see how it is.

Thoughts?

I followed Taco Bills Instructions except I modified my stock lower shift boot and reinstalled it instead of using the supplied DynoMat.

A few pictures below or follow the link to my detailed instructions for my minor modification to the installation instructions...

I have the 87, 89, 93 octane Brenspeed tunes. I’ve messed around with all three, and like most people have said, the 93 tune provides the best throttle response. I’ve been very happy with this purchase. I’m sure the car picked up some horsepower, but what I like the most is the improved throttle response. The factory throttle response is just plain silly.

My second favorite modification was installing 255/45/18 Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar tires. It handles and grips a hundred times better now.

These two modifications have really changed the character of my car.

Jason,
Just pulling your chain,I'm not into street racing @ all, especially on the morning commute with the idiots we already have on 33.
Even with the higher gas prices, it's not worth running the 87 tune IMO.
I'm going to try & make the next cruise-in @ BK this month, you ought to stop over as well.

I'd call them about the Livewire, I don't know. I do know they do the SCT products.
As far as the best, I think it's personal preference, but their customer service is the best I've dealt with in quite a while, you can actually talk with them about your wants, mods, etc. Brent, Seth & Dave are all VERY good with the S-197 Mustangs.Sharp guys.

Congrats Jason on the purchase. I hope to be installing mine in a few weeks (The wife will not let me order until we finish closing on our house - 29 May) She says no big purchases until then, what does a guy do?

Neither am I. 33 Sucks.. Its either 50mph or 75 mph with some bursts of the limit, 65. I'll see what I can do about the BK Cruise-in. See you around!

Brenspeed or Bamachips. But right now, I know that I would still be waiting for my tuner and cai from Bama. I basically had a three day turn around from Brenspeed with no additional cost or asking them to do it quicker. Brenspeed does the Xcal-3 and Xcal-2. I know he is slowly phasing out the 2's.

I like your idea and read your instructions. Can you post the pictures? I don't feel like signing up on another messaging board Thanks in advance!

I thought one was better at manuals than the other. I just want to be sure. Since I only want to do this once. At least once this year.

Honestly, I'm not too sure. Perhaps someone else can chime in?
