C&L racer and tune

Well, I just finished installing the C&L racer cai and the tune from Doug(thaks doug!!!) 93 oct torque.
All I can say is that My was was asleep until today!!!
what the he ll!!
I can understand now why most people says the cai and tune are the first mod you need to do.
It is awesome to feel the power, I can't understand why ford engineers don't do this at ford, now It feels like a real muscle car, very happy indeed!!
First I want to thank Doug at bamachips for the parts and tune!

I do have a few questions for the ones that have this done already and are not newbies like me.

1. the filter is really close to the plastic cupport and if you move it it touches, is it the way it should be?
2. in the sct xcal2 says 5 (something) left, that means that you can only use it in 5 cars in the life of the sct or means you only have 5 tunes left to do? Sorry if the question is stupid.
3. I drive like 80 miles a day, I have for that particular use the 87 perf. but for the perf. 93 or torq 93 wich one is best for daily driving?( common sense told me to install the torq. 93 but I can be wrong)
4. how often will I have to clean and re-oil the intake? I do mostly highway on the car.
5. if I decide to change the tire size, can I change the speedo myself with the sct xcal2 or I need to buy another tune?

Thanks guys!!!

this thing is a monster.!!!

Hey Patan,

I just picked up an XCAL2 this weekend and was wondering the same thing about the 5 somethings as well. Did a little reading on www.sctflash.com forums and it is how many vehicles it can be used on. The tuner would have to be unlocked from a specific car by loading the original tune abck in, then it could be used on another car.

Yes the car now feels like it has 300 Horsepower! I have and automatic and it really woke things up with the tune it barks the 1-2 shift and this is onyl the street tune. I think the race tune will chirp the 2-3 as well.

Can't wait to get an intake and new matching tune, should scrounge up some dough in the next few weeks.

Enjoy

1. It does quite close, don't worry about it to much.
2. I believe it means 5 different cars, as you can upload as many different tunes as you wish to it for your car.
3. If you fill up with 87 Octane then you should not use tunes specified for high Octane. It takes a couple of refills of your tank to change to different octane, so if you wanna use Octane 93 tunes make sure you've at least filled your tank previously with Octane 93 so you've got a full tank of Octane 93. I've tried Dougs torque, performance and race tunes. My car is a daily driver and I use the race tune. To summaries the torque tune has good power and pull in the 1000-4000rpm range wheras the performance tune power band is 3500rpm upwards. But Dougs new race tune is superior to both of these, its a very linear power development curve with ultra sensisitive throttle and this tune not only pulls the best from down low but screams like mad upto redline. Ask Doug for it as its safe to use daily and you will love it.
4. Every 15,000-30,000 miles dependent on dust levels.
5. I believe you can but Doug offers free ammendments to his tunes, just tell him what you've changed on your car and 2-3 days later you will have a new tune in your inbox for free. Doug is a top guy!!
