c&l question on brakets

Just got my racer in from brenspeed but while I was watching the ff&mm dvd I noticed they had some kind of braket that mounted on the engine. Does that piece only come with the metal inlet tubes or did I just not get one?

I believe that is only for the aluminum unit.

ohh

I am very dissapointed with this bs heat shield I mean wtf I just paid 600 for this package. I just left this plastic junk off. I got the intake to fit fine with my intake spacer so that's plus. No rubbing issues at all. Ill post pics in a few I'm on the black berry right now

Hey Elliott, the bracket comes with the aluminum tube. I didn't use mine and I have had no problems.

Yeah, what 1SG said. The bracket only comes with the Aluminum tube from C&L.

The plastice Racer version is light enough no to need a bracket. I have been running my C&L Racer intake since September 2006, albeit with the "heat shield", with no rubbing issues. And that includes over 9000 miles ove on the road, dragstrip and autocross action.

Welcome to the C&L club!

I have the Racer unit as well. The only bad thing about is the hokey heat shield. The Steeda heat shield takes advantage of the two holes that the stock airbox used, not sure why C&L as well as the other air intake manufacturers didn't incorporate those into their designs.

JLT's heat shield isn't any better. The intakes work great, and the billet MAF is awesome, the rubber couplers are okay, it's just the heatshields suck on both brands.

I might start stamping out some good quality/fitting replacement one's and selling them. Line the tops with a rubber grommet to crush with the hood closing... Do you think they'd sell? If I get enough interest, I'd do it.

If they are similar to the FRPP or Steeda ones I will by one in a heartbeat for my C&L if the price is right.

Just like that, maybe in stainless, with stainless hardware, and the molding between the airbox and hood.

I think there are alot of folks who would be interested. Of course I would have to put a hole in mine for my Shaker. I would also be interested in a closed stainless box like the stock one that would fit with a C&L.

Hmm, if enough people are looking for it, I'll get a prototype done up this week or next.

Just curious. Would the Steeda heat shield work with the C&L and JLT CAIs?

I haven't tried one myself but I have been told that thay won't work because of the size and location of the airfilter. The C&L filter is too long.

JLT is round, enters different spot than the oblong C&L does. They need to be made application specific in order to sit right.

Well, if someone gets a thread together and I see how many people are interested, I can have these things manufactured pretty easily. Either out of a stainless, or an aluminum. The aluminum will radiate heat nicely. Let me know.

Totally agree... and I'd buy an improved heat shield for my C&L Racer in a heartbeat! The ones the C&L and JLT come with are junky and just kind of sit there I'm sure someone can come up with a better product.

I guess I'll do them up and post a prototype and see who's interested.

Okay, so I'm going to do a prototype to fit both intakes. The "J" intake and the "C" intake. When I sell them, I'll have to call them "Universal Heat Shields" for legal reasons.

There will be the Universal J Heat Shield 05-07 Mustang and Universal C Heat Shield 05-07 Mustang.

I can get them done either in stainless or polished aluminum. Polished aluminum with stainless hardware will be pretty, and still fully functional.

I am trying to get a rough price from the factory.

If people think they would like one, please reply so I get an idea what quantities I need.

Chris

You don't have to use nor do you need the bracket. The bracket only comes with the aluminum intake.
