Well, I'm not sure how well this is suppose to fit, but for $300 I'd thought it would fit better.

According to the directions:

"Slide the smaller end of the new MAF housing int to silicone hose coupler that is already installed on the round of the inlet pipe. You should feel the end of the MAF housing make contact with the inlet point. At this point, the silicone hose should complete cover the small end of the MAF."

Well, the MAF housing touches the inlet piple but only in one spot at a time. Looking at it it seems like onside of the MAF lip sticks up above the inlet pipe and the opposite side it looks like it's below. Now the sides at this view look like they are flush.

As far as the silicone hose goes. It will only completely cove about an inch and if I rotate the MAF around it won't completely cover any part of the housing.

The end at the Throttly body seems to fit fine.

Anyway, I'm curious if this is a problem? Or everyone else's was like this.

Thanks,

I can't explain why you're having issues, but I can report that mine fit perfectly. I hope you're able to get it right.

Mine was perfect, too. Did you loosen the MAF-side hose-clamp enough to slide the MAF housing in all the way (sorry if that's a stupid question)?

Yeah, from the pics you can see I loosened the clamps where they slide off. I think the inlet tube, not the MAF, wasn't machined properly. I'm seriously considering the JLT now

No issues at all with my C&L. Everything fit together perfectly.

You may try giving them a call and see if they'll try to help you out.

no issues with my C&L either. JLT is cheap and makes good numbers but doesnt look as good under the hood as the C&L

Have you tried slipping it all the way onto the maf first?
I left a slight gap between the maf and the elbow so that the 2 pieces cannot knock into each other if there is any vibration.

Get a buddy who has one and compare. Go to a mustang club or meet and check with another C&l intake side by side.

Step by step.

1) Remove the stock airbox all the way to the throttlebody.
2)Remove the MAF from the old inlet tube and install it on the new MAF housing.
3)Bolt the plastic shroud in place.
4)Slip the MAF housing through the hole in the shroud and attach the air filter.
5)Bolt the MAF housing to the valve cover bolt.
(I made a small modification to the bracket.
I slotted the end that atttaches to the valve cover bolt for ease of removal.)

6)Slip the coupler onto the MAF housing all the way.

7)Place the other coupler on the large end.
8)Slip the elbow onto the maf housing end first.

9)Slip the oval end over the throttle body.

Sorry for the dirty engine compartment, I'm in the process of sanding down my intake so I can polish it.

I would contact C&L and complain about a possible manufacturing defect on the MAF housing. Is the lip supposed to be that way or not?

If not then email those pictures you have to them. See if you can get another MAF housing.

Looking at your picture, over 80 - 90% of the silicone hose does fit over the lip there. Looks like you are questioning that 1/8 inch gap or so. It may just be an aesthethic visual looking defect but if you use the clamp do you think it would be functional (no air leak) if you rotated and hid that gap in the back toward the valve cover side?

Of course if you are a perfectionist and want to make it look right then contact C&L!

My C&L Fits Great No problems, I picked up the 95mm C&L Unit and it fits great as well. Sorry you are having trouble. If you call Lee at C&L I am sure he will make it right for you.
