Thumbs up Bye Bye GTA's and hello FFRP Stingers!

Well like many of you on this forum I have changed my mufflers more than once. I went from stock to Borla stingers to GTA's and now back to FRPP stingers. The only thing I can say is, "I don't know why I ever sold the Borla's?"

I bought a set of the FRPP stingers at a very good price but they arrived in poor condition. After some serious scrubbing on the tips and using SS polish I have them looking pretty good. I had my muffler guy install them tonight and as soon as I fired up the car he and I looked at each other and said, "that's what a muscle car should sound like!"

BTW I haven't really noticed any drone although I haven't done any highway cruising yet. I am running JBA shorty headers with the FRPP X pipe and FRPP stingers. I'll get a soundclip up the next time Chad and I get together.

The GTA's already have a new home and the FRPP X pipe just replaces the factory H.

No inspection until 2011 and I'm not corcerned with mufflers. 6 years for the first smog inspection in California. By 2011 I will probably have had 3 more sets of mufflers on my car!

Congrats bro! I bet the Graypny sounds sweet! Probably sounds almost as bad *** as it looks.
Hopefully my LT's, ORH pipe and boosted stroker motor will bring the best out of your GTA's. Are we on for Saturday?

I am thinking of doing exactly what you have done. Good bye GTAs and hello stingers....

I have the FRPP X pipe and FRPP headers too...and I'm really interested in what your car is going to sound like now. I would much rather hear it in person though before I break down and buy them too...wait a minute...you wouldn't happen to be traveling through Southern California anytime soon would ya?

I would love to hear them in the flesh...

If you don't mind could you PM me.

I love my Stingers.
And I love my O/R-H even more!

I had some major drone (the kind that'll loosen your tooth fillings) on the highway, but since the 4.10's went in, it has mostly gone away.

This is NOT even an issue since it has nothing to do with emissions. They are not legal in California for noise NOT emissions.

Scott,
You can have a look-see on my mid-muffler setup on the 20th. I'm hanging onto the GTA's I pulled off in case I end up putting on a O/R H or headers down the road.

Larry,
Is there any drone issues with the Pypes system? I never will say I am satisfied with what I have if there is something better out there. I guess that why I am on my 5th 93 octane/automatic tune.

Brenspeed dyno day with a Bamachips tune.

Wow, that sounds much richer in the low RPMs than my car. It seems similar at high RPMs though--it's hard to tell because the exhaust sound is mixing with the high pitch whine of the dyno. I think I'm not going to get the whole picture unless I hear it in person. But from reading your mods; it looks like you have redone the whole exhaust from the cats back.

Thanks for the video...

Ray,
Actually that clip in May on Brenspeeds dyno was Lidio's tune from Alternate Automotive. I have been only running Doug's tune for 2 weeks. But I am going to Brenspeeds dyno day on the 27th of this month and see how Dougs tune stacks up. I also have Brenspeeds tune on my tuner. I have tried 5 different tunes for my auto. I will try them all and make up my mind which one suits my driving style and preference. I am not with that crowd that always believes one tuner always has the best tunes in town. Unless one has tried them all how could anyone say that. I have tried most of them so I can say which on them is the best IMO. BTW, that lower tone you mentioned comes from the Mac Prochamber. That is what is does...lowers the tone.

I'll try and get up sound clip up as soon as possible.

You know I'm not telling people that the GTA's are crap because there are not. I just wanted something deeper and louder and the stingers fill the bill. On a side note the quality of the Borla's that I had first is better than what they are making for Ford Racing. Heck I might buy a set of Borla's again based on the condition of these mufflers.
