Has anyone who lowered their car removed, replaced or modified their stock bumpstops? What were the results? What did you use if you replaced them? I thought I might be able to just cut off the top "bulb" of the stock bumpstop.

I installed Steeda Comp springs and the rear lowered about 1.5 inches which now only leaves about an inch between the bumpstop and the contact point on the rear sub-frame. I know I hit the bumpstops with my stock springs before the swap. Just concerned about hitting the bump stops more with the lowered ride (yeah I know the new springs are stiffer but...?).

 

chalk them up and drive around for a while to see if there is any transfer of chalk. I see people with 1inch drops with no hitting the bump stop. I ended up cutting the top bump off of mine. I don't know if they ever made contact.

 

Good idea on the chaulk suggestion. If I ever get to drive the car with this weather... I already called to reinstate my insurance starting this Friday but we are expecting more snow

But it sound like cutting to top bump off was easy enough. I just think I might hit it when autocrossing or on a road course.

 

Cut the top part off. It takes literally a minute to do.

Don't forget you have bump stops on your front struts that need trimmed too ! this often over looked when Stangs are lowered! This is covered in Saleens install PDF !http://www.saleen.com/installation-m...%20Rev%20A.pdf There are other references to trimming the front strut bump stop but this is one I had easy access to!

 

Yeah, I think I will cut the top off of mine when the springs/struts/shocks go in sometime soon.

 

I have Eibach Pro-lines on my car, and I cut both of the "bulbs" off of my bumpstops. This will still leave enough rubber on the base to provide cushioning. It made a noticeable difference in the ride quality over rough roads.
