Perhaps the hood liner on the GT and the Bullitt are different. Maybe you need a Bullitt hood liner to go with the STB. My hood liner and Kenny Brown strut tower brace rubbed on my 88 GT.
I would have thought using the Ford STB would not have any fitting issues. I don't have any rubbing issues with my factory installed STB. Click on image for larger image.

I painted it this way on purpose, it was easier to fill in the Ford with blue because it was stamped and recessed then it was to try to paint the raised surface.
is this better?

My recommendation to anyone using GT500 strut tower braces on a Mustang GT, is reversing the bar. Otherwise it will NOT fully clear the hood when closed, in which you will notice slight bulges between the gaps in the hood, and front fender.
Also note: You cannot use an OEM plenum cover, with a GT500 STB reversed !
