Talking Brenspeed 93+Steeda CAI+MAC muffler..HOLY COW!!!

Hello everybody,

I would like to share my experience with my new set-up.

I bought a new XCAL 3 from Brenspeed to complement the Steeda CAI that I bought from one of the TMS members here. I have a 2007 Mustang Gt with stock 3:55 rear diff.

I ordered 87, 91 and 93 octane tune customized to my simple set up.

After it arrived yesterday, I installed the tune in a flash, 93 octane of course!

After the XCAL 3 93 octane tune is installed, holy cow!!!!! It's an entirely different beast! The exhaust note is different (I can feel the rumble of the V8 and neighbors I bet will not be happy with it), the throttle response is quick as lightning, and guess what........ I turned the Traction Control System off and all I got were wheels spins and smoking tires!!

Acceleration is instant, and looking at the RPM gauge, once you hit 3500-4000 rpm it felt like a missile. It feels like there's a ton of horsepower added to my mustang and I am lovin' it!

I have never felt happier.

Thank you Brenspeed.

Albert

I guess a dyno can check if it's running lean or not, but I trust Brenspeed.

In our car club of all of those who had Brenspeed tunes over 70% of them were running lean. A lean tune from Brenspeed contributed to my engine problems...Just something to think about

Let us know if your calms down after about a wk. The same happened to me with this tune. The thing was like an animal the first few days. Ready to take off on its own. Then the thing just calmed down as i lost some of the throttle response and the agressivness i had the first wk. I still can not figure it out. I even tried reloading it.

Mine has been great from day one. It's hard to believe that some people found a lean condition.

How were the lean conditions verified?? I have 4 different tunes from Brenspeed (n/a -100 shot before cams and n/a-100 shot after cams) and according to my wideband they are all a tad rich 12.4-12.6 n/a and 11.4-11.6 on the 100 shot. I am not saying you guys didnt have the issues so please dont take it as such just wondering how you guys came to find out they all had problems.

Please elaborate..... Making posts such as these without giving specific information is kinda generic information IMO. How many people were running tunes, how was the a/f monitored locally, what elevation are you at, etc. are all contributing factors. And we all know that many times when you receive tunes from supplier "A" and have them evaluated by supplier "B", usually "B" will be bad mouthing "A" LOL......

My brenspeed tune was on the lean side too. I took it to have it dyno'ed and it was camped out at the 14 to 14.3 range.

How was your a/f monitored? Did they weld in a bung before the cats? If not, and it was done at the tail pipe, then you're getting an inaccurate reading anyway. And if you're NA, really high 13s low 14s is not severely lean, assuming the reading was taken accurately.

Do you think the tune itself really changed or do you think that it might be that the "seat of the pants dyno" has just adapted to the new feel?

I'm glad I read this thread, this is the first I've heard of any issues associated with Brenspeed. They are who I was thinking of going with for my set up when I get it. I keep going back and forth between them and BamaChips.

I read somewhere on the board that the car's computer will adapt to your driving style after week or so of average commuting. The tune would still be there, but would require some aggressive driving to "wake it up". Personally, I don't buy it.

Unless the car was reflashed without your knowledge, I can't imagine why the tune would deteriorate. I would call or email Brent and ask him what was up.

Yes, it was taken at the tailpipe. But whatever your view I trust the guys here at HPP in Dallas not to lead me astray. I got nothing against Brenspeed and I'm not looking for a fight. I think their tune was great. I made 298 RWHP with the **** thing. But if someone that built a 1200 HP Cobra thinks Id be safer running it a little richer then Ill go along with him.
