Bought a goodie from CHE Performance/Powerhouse411

Well in the event of waiting to get my supercharger installed by a great performance shop here in NJ, I was on withdrawl from finding a part to buy for the stang.

Well I came across a suspension part that I thought would def benefit me so I took the plunge on it.

8.8 Axle Brace.
payed $189 with free shipping from Powerhouse411.com
not a bad deal

anyone else have this on theirs? if not, I'll be sure to give a good review on it when I install it and take it for a drive.

Has anyone found a brace that allows for full throttle shifts on the manual S/C cars? I've heard they move around alot on the tranny mount and cause issues..

Thanks, Doug.

Post 1st Day install....

Well I crawled under the car last night on rhino ramps, wasn't too hard, the first few parts of the install were very straight forwards and east to install.

Then came the part of actually bolting on the brace. The instructions towards the middle and the end of the installation get really tough. Its a matter of deciding what bolts are what because they all look the same. So i figured that out without the help of the instructions.

The funny thing was I got held up on the install in the beginnin because I was trying to why the brace wouldnt come on. Well I looked and there were these blocks on the end of the axle. I didnt know what they were but it wasn't letting me slide the brace on. so i go back to the instructions and it says. "some vehicles may be equipped with dampner weights on the axle at the lower control arm mount. these are typically found on v6 models" sure enough, they were dampner weights.

Finally got them off and man are those things heavy, they gotta be like 10lbs.

Slid the brace on and its slid in like a glove. Now I can move on!!

Until 5 min later, I discover the the bolts are bigger than the pre-existing holes where the dampner weight were.

So running around my garage and basement trying to find a 1/2" drill bit, I was unsuccessful at finding one and it was sure late at night, around 11PM when I gave up for the night.

so the second day, which would be wednesday, I'll have to go and get a 1/2" drill bit and a 3/8" drill bit so I can complete the rest of the install.

I did take pics but unfortionately I'm typing this up at work and left the camera at home. once I complete the install with pics i'll post them.....

well I finally got a chance to get under the car again last night, after going to the hardware store and getting a 1/2 drill bit and a 3/8 drill bit. After that, went back to drilling away into the LCA housing and I'll tell ya, drilling through metal is a real PITA!!

So the holes were finally drilled and got to bolting the bolts in. I got all of them except one. Turns one I couldnt get one on because the hole was so close to the curve in the LCA housing, that the nut wouldnt get on there. So I took a neighbors grinder and grinded a flat surface on one of the side of the nuts, slid it back up in there, tada!!! It's bolted on!

Now the thing I did notice was the 1/2" bolts did not come with any NUTS. Which concerns me because all I did was tighten them in the hole that I made and it seemed like it never tighten down, it just turned turned and turned.

Well just for the heck of it, I bolted the rest of the bolts on, torqued them to the right torque specifications and rolled the car off the rhino ramps.

Now for the test drive.....

When driving away from my house I could def feel a real good difference. I remember a lot of times I would get a "clunk, clunk clunk" a few times upon startup and the first drive. That clunk clunk clunk was GONE!!!

Now for the road test!

I took her out and I took it very easy on her first because of those 2 bolts that didnt have the nuts. This thing is REALLY SOLID!!! When ya hit a bump, its real solid. When ya hit a bump in the road, the end still bounces like it suppose to with the supports of the springs.

After driving around for 15 min making sure everything is ok, now for the real test!!!

Went down a deserted road, and LAUNCHED it and all I can say is WOW!!!!!!!! The back end is REALLY SOLID and it really puts the rear end in place and doesn't move!!! I launched it again and got the same result!!! One more time, same result, it just straighten's that axle and all the power goes to the wheels!!

On a scale of 1-10, I'd rate this product a def 10!

Installation, on a scale of 1-10 I'd give it a 6, the company could do a hell of a better job on the instructions and what not.

But overall, I'm very satisfied and pleased!!

And to verify my results, I'll have my buddy "cheese302" test drive my stang to feel the difference.

Photo's to come!!!

I'm really considering getting this piece next to finish up all of my CHE parts.

Get some pics up and let me know what you think of it after you get some more miles on it...

I'd be picking this up sometime next month.

This is a rearend brace, not a trans/shifter brace.

get the CHE K member Brace with torque limiters. will completely cure your WOT shifting. it doesnt allow the flex between the engine and transmission, keeping them lined up for perfect shifts everytime. as an added bonus, by cutting down on the flex, it gives that power back to the wheels
