Blown GT's w/450+ rwhp, how y'all holding up?

Some time ago, the general consensus was reached that the "safe limit" for our cars on stock internals was around 450 rwhp. Those of you guys who have been running more than that for some time, how's it going?

1) How much rwhp?
2) How long have you been running those levels?
3) Daily driver / racer? What's your driving style?

I've been running just under 450 for a while now. I intentionally requested that level to err on the side of caution, but I'm curious to see how the guys beyond that are doing. I'm wondering if I'm being too conservative...

thanks!

Stay where you are. What's the point in another 40-50 rear wheel? You might not find too many blown (as in blown up) stories on this forum, but if you check others, you will find more and more reports of motor failures and other issues.

Any traction issues? No.....then leave it alone.

Thanks for your input. That's been my gut feeling, but I've just been wondering.

I'd be interested to hear what people have to say as well. I'm getting an E-Force soon and I'm debating how much boost to run. Thanks!

518 RWHP & 422 Torque , not a daily driver and the last time I drove it, I feel it needs a new clutch, just a slight slippage.

Roush TVS at ~11 lbs tuned by VMP Tuning, stock motor, stock heads/cams, stock exhaust manifolds etc etc. Only mods that add power are the Roush TVS, O/R X Pipe, and Magnaflow catback. OEM TR3650 with updated syncros from TSB with McLeod RST. OEM rear differential and gears.

525 rwhp 501 rwtq.
Over a year.
Drive it every day, race it, and beat on it constantly.

HP & TQ shown in sig. About 10k miles in 18 months with the KB. Not a daily driver, but it has been down the drag strip around 2 dozen times. No problems (knock wood!).

Not as much time as some of these guys, but.. stock block down to the exhaust manifolds - Whipple HO kit w/ dyno tune - putting out around 470+ whp now @ 10-11psi

I've got about 7 months at that power level and had the Non-IC kit on her @ 397whp sense April 09. So I'm running just over a year and roughly 5k miles (I think) under pressure. She's not my DD anymore, bought a truck 4 months before the Whipple.

Nice TVS!!! and on a completely stock motor, way to go! When my car was being dynoed I didn't want to even try for the 500 RWHP mark , just happened and then I told him to not push it any further , just didn't want to chance it.

Just sitting shy of 450 rwhp and I am still holding fine. I do feel I will need to change the clutch at some point. I am dialed in and I will not be upping the power. I have a blast every time I drive to work. Exp when I am on the pike and some BmW tries ridding my ars and I just "Hit" it on him...lol at them trying to keep up but still getting smaller in the rear-view....

510 RWHP on pump gas, 550 on 109 Race fuel. 12lbs boost. I drive it and drag race it. Currently runs mid 11s. Hooks well too on 15x10 MT DRs. Been running at this level since Oct 2009. 60lb injectors and gt500 pump gives me spare fuel.

Sure....until one of the GT500 pumps fail. Likely will not happen, but it can. Happened on my car and recently on a mate's car. Check his thread out on another forum.

Im @ 475RWHP and 425---something RWTQ (can't remember)@10lbs boost and pump 91 gas at all times.
Just hit 20K and 2years since the blower was installed. Haven't put a lot of passes on the car though. The clutch lasted about 10K miles and in the 10K since I've put maybe 20 passes at most on the clutch (not entirely happy with the purchase). I don't hammer it when it's first started or if it's blazing hot outside. I am however in boost almost daily and do drive aggressively when the conditions permit. It loves the cold air and will touch 11lbs if I keep my foot in it.
I totally credit my tuner for giving me a reliable but just aggressive enough tune. I'd do it all again in a heartbeat

I LIKE this page.....nice to know that the tranny, rear end, and other driveline parts are holding up, since I'm planning a KB intercooled kit in the future.

Yeah...good to share info and experiences.....spitting out dyno hp numbers though is extremely unreliable and misleading. 500 on one machine can be 400 on another

479RWHP, 455 RWTQ for about 13 months now. Running a Saleen blower with 10-11psi boost.

No issues at all. I've put about 4,000 miles on the car with the blower. I had it dyno tuned by Patrick at PSI Motorsports in Houston and I give him the credit for it holding together. Of course I managed not to screw up my own install too.
