Drag radials take away from the handling, which some people enjoy. I would never run DRs everyday. If you want a sticky "handling" tire that also hooks, the BFG KD is a great tire. My friend has them on his Procharged C5 with 480whp. The car hooks well and still has great handling. Pilot PS2's are also great tires.

I should clarify. I have an extra set of wheels with the drag radials that I swap on/off just for the track. I don't run them everyday either.

Yeah, you dont buy F1's to burn up at the dragstrip, thats for sure.

yeah... I'll probably move to F1s for the street and M/T for the strip. it isnt advised to ever run a drag tire on the street due to sidewall strength, taking corners could become dangerous.

Unfortunately those 50+ profile tires dont really exist for "wide" 17" wheels. :/

Seems like a lot of good reviews out there for the Fusion ZR-1's, really inexpensive too. Had the F1's on the Lightning, and didn't like them too much, the Nitto 555's on there now are much better, and look better IMO. I wish Nitto made a 255/50 in the 555, but I might try out the ZR-1's.

For a little more money, the Bridgestone Potenza RE750 look pretty good too.

If the Goodyear's came in anything wider than a 275 for the back (in 18"), I'd have gone with them. I do like the Nitto 555's though, compared to the stock Pirellis. However one thing I noticed - some of you may know that a Nitto DR 315/35/17 will fit comfortably on a 9" wheel with little to no bulging. Well I'd have to say that the Nitto 555's 295/45/18's I have on the back of my car are narrower than the Goodyear F1's of the same size on my buddy's Lightning. I also noticed at a car show that 05/06 Stangs with 285/40/18's in the back looked WIDER than my 295's. Oh well, still love the Nitto's, just wish they had an extra 1/2" of width [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen.gif[/img]

I was reading the reviews on the F1's at this link and although most people love them it seems some people had really bad luck with them (treadwear, blowouts, etc.). On average, what's the expected life on these in terms of mileage?

Kind of depends on the size you want. I have the BFGoodrich KDW and love them. They were not included in the comparison for some reason. Remember if you want different widths on the back than on the front you will need to keep the height the same. I have 285 on back and 255 on front with 18 inch deep dish wheels.

Yes you do if you want your traction control to work. And your speedometer to be accurate.

I have different sized tires (for 16,000 miles now), and my TCS works fine, and my speedometer is dead on (easily reset with a tuner). Oh, and ABS works too... there were a couple times where I needed it, and it worked flawlessly.
