What is the best first performance mod I should do? I want borlas cause of the awesome sound but won't give me too much performance or should I buy an intake with a tuner first? I'm one of those that can only buy a mod at a time over an extended period..due to mortgage..crap like that..priority stuff...any input guys?I will only do one of these this year and the other with next years tax return.thanks

I would definitely say CAI+tuner. I did magnaflow catbacks first, but it only added some sound and no noticable performance.

I assume you're already running premium gas, that's the easiest mod there is.

I'm in the same boat, only one mod at a time, can't afford a tuner + CAI. So I went ahead and ordered the K&N since no tune is needed then my second mod will be the tuner down the road

you may get both worlds with the intake I have been told that the exhaust gets a little deeper after adding a CAI and Tune. Until there is a performance difference from the stock to aftermarket exhaust I will be keeping the mufflers stock and putting on LT headers and a H-pipe

With out a doubt a TUNER first everything else builds on the tune. Tune alone can be 30 hp.

My 1st performance mod will be the K&N/Predator deal ($500)... I can put the K&N on myself and get the immediate response, then later on when I do exhaust I will use the tuner. Considering most places want $260+ for the K&N and $400+ for the Predator, it's a really good price. Auto Zone gave me a $337 price on the K&N. With that, I like to think I'm getting the tuner for $163

I've read a lot about the C & L intake with predator. I think I'm gonna go with this first. How good is the K & N compared to the C &L?

K&N intake. You will not be disappointed and it does not require a tune.

Won't do you any good by itself. Just a waste of money.

That's a BELIEF. Do you really think your car gets better mileage when you put in 93 over 87. It's just better mechanically for the car, but as performance, nothing.

Has anyone really checked this out? I read somewhere recently that the new Stangs' fuel and spark advance curves are pre set for premium fuel. But they didnt elaborate on this. You would think that regular gas would have the knock sensor backing off the timing and losing power and that by simply using premium fuel, the engine could deliver all the power it was designed to. Ide like to see a dyno test of 87 octane vs 92. No other changes, just the fuel.
